Looking for some tips here.

I seem to be running into a problem.

When “questing”, I do each map to 100% and then craft with whatever itmes I collect along the way. The trouble i am having is that I seem to be anywhere between 3 and 5 levels too low for a new zone after all that. Am I missing something along the way?

Depending on your level (actually it doesn’t matter what level really when you think about it) .. you have many options to help you boost those 3 to 5 levels.

What I did in my mid-20s was go do Asura starter area and Sylvari starter area after completing the human area near Divinity’s Reach. By the time I was finished those two maps I was in my mid-30s, and had a ton of resources to use for crafting.

You can also stick around for Dynamic events — they usually show on your map with a big orange circle .. press M and head to one to help complete an event, which often leads to another harder event shortly after the first event, and gives you nice karma points. Watch for these events on your map and go help other players take down the mob.

I suppose with the level scaling this is a good option. I appreciate the tip. Still learning my way around the game

Level 40 as of today, so I guess I am not doing too bad!

lol I went and did the Norn area after I hit 40s and it boosted me more — so now I’m kind of “behind” on some level-appropriate maps But it’s a nice option to have.

Also keep in mind there’s several maps with different tiers — I think there’s at least two or three that are 40s content .. so travel and explore and find different areas that will help you level up.

Don’t forget to work on your story as well, you’ll get some XP from doing each stage as they come along. Plus, you can always redo Dynamic Events and Group Events in each zone.

Yes, explore! The game rewards you well for exploring. I was level 26 after the Human lands, did the first 2 maps, the city and personal story until it took me to Lion’s Arch.

Then did the Norn lands (city, and first 2 map areas), and then Char (city, first map area) and currently half way through Diessa Plateau. I just turned level 40.

The scaling makes the lower level map areas still challenging, and you can find enough lower level resources to build up your crafting skills as well.

Ahh yes, leveling…I hit level 80 yesterday and am still so far behind on more-level approriate maps because I spent so much time hanging in around and finishing lower and mid-level maps ^^°
So much left to do

Make sure to participate in dynamic events while you explore. These award large chunks of experience points, karma and even some coin.

Some dynamic events also spawn merchants with unique items, or a chest with random above-average quality loot.

Also, talking to certain NPCs may even trigger the start of a dynamic event.

Finally, stick around for a minute or two at the end of an event, because a follow-up event (with its own rewards) may be starting soon.
