When doing large scale dynamic events I often see people going “lfg” or randomly inviting people to their party. What I don’t really understand is why though.

Afaik, the benefit of being in a party is coordination and communication, but these don’t really feel like they’re needed in most events (like dragons etc) as most of the time it just comes down to shooting and surviving (or zerging).

Is there some benefit to being in a party that I’m unaware of? (drop rates?) This question might sound weird, but I just don’t see the point of partying for dragons. I can understand that there might be a “social” angle to it, but I’m not entirely convinced.

Tagging mobs is easier in a party.

you get assigned loot based on a minumun percentage of damage done to the mobs, that percent of damage is shared by the party as long as you attack that target so people in parties get more loot in large scale dynamic events than someone by themselves.
