I’ve been playing through the Charr starter map to get the Lifetime Survivor achievement – I got to 93% and then managed to fall in hole and get stuck. Doing /stuck does nothing, except report it as a bug. I then disconnected and reconnected to move my character (as I can’t use a way point) and realised that I didn’t seem to be gaining XP towards the achievement anymore.

I’ve searched the forums and found that the achievement also stops if you log out. I’m gutted. My connection isn’t great anyway (2mb, countryside line) so I do get disconnected sometimes. Can you please reconsider this (or at least update the text) – I’m absolutely gutted, I don’t generally have time to play for hours in one sitting.

I’m sorry that happened and I agree it’s frustrating. Especially for something called ‘Lifetime Survivor’ it seems like it should be cumulative and not restart if you log out.

But if you want to try again you might actually find it easier to complete in a high level zone. I got it in just over an hour by killing yellow named creatures (like deer and sheep) in Frostgorge Sound. You’ll get slightly more experience anyway because it’s a high level map, and there’s also a bonus for killing things that aren’t often killed, which is usually the animals since there’s not much reason to kill them. And because they’re not aggressive until you attack them you can just kill 1 at a time (or however many you can handle) without risking getting overwhelmed.

If you have any XP boosters or can get food that gives an XP boost that will help too.

If you have HoT, a single run through Dragon’s Stand will get it for you.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll try these. It’s just so frustrating when I was at 93%, and I had no idea logging out and back in to unstick myself would stop the achievement.

I really think it’s something they need to make clearer.

I’ll have to give it another try next weekend.

Unless they’ve changed it, you can also get it by skilling up a craft. I got it way back when in 2012 or 2013 by sitting in LA raising jewelcrafting on one alt. I think the achieve popped after about 5 levels. I wasn’t even trying for it.

Birthday/Celebration Booster + AB Octovine while tagging all 4 sides should get it done.

Tagging all sides hasn’t done anything since like before the April update.

it’s “get 500K exp in one map without dying”
If I were you I’d do events/hearts in one of the three post-HOT maps

or any lv80 map. I got it twice by accident in Cursed Shore. Silverwastes probably works well. You could just do red and indigo pack bull escorts and probably tag their defense events as well. The VB itzel hunter events are also very quick and they repeat very often. Sometimes you even have two running on top of each other. If you don’t mind fighting stoneheads there are two that seems to respawn nearly instantly near the VB entrance that appear after the Pale Reaver chain has pushed far enough(possibly after finishing).

Bloodstone Fen would be the best of the three, as you can buy a permanent exp boost for that map.
