Guild Wars 2

So I’ve been a clicker for the longest time (years) in various MMOs, as well as this one until yesterday. I finally took the plunge and bound my keys, but I still feel like clicking is more efficient for me. How long did it take you to adjust?

Hmm got my new mouse in the middle of May, had to readjust because of different button placement. I’ve mostly become accustom to the new mouse.

I don’t think it took as long with the previous mouse. The new one has too many buttons.

In the beginning I was actually using a mix. Keybinds for some and clicks for others until I read http://taugrim.com/2012/06/27/guide-to-guild-wars-2-keybinds/ . I don’t use that set of keybinds but you can say it’s inspired by it.

It took me a weekend. It was the first beta weekend too. XD
Here is how I map my keys.

e,s,d,f – movement
z,a,q,r,g – weapon skills
c,v,t – utility skills
shift – heal
1,2,3,4 – profession specific shtuffz

I clicked the skills before this game. Got a new mouse with buttons on the side for this game to make it easier. It took me a couple of weeks, at least, to get used to not clicking and i still occasionally have to look at my mouse buttons.

I use the standard control and I’m fine with it. Though I use to click with mouse every now and then.

I made the transit to mostly hotkeys back around wow vanilla launch but given the enormous amount of skills and items I still clicked on the less commonly used or those that were never needed in combat. I completely abandoned clicking early 2012 in swtor when I got a Razor naga mouse and a Logitech G13 hotkeyboard.

I use:

S: strafe left
F: strafe right
D: forward movement
E: weapon attack 1
W: wep 2
R: wep 3
V: wep 4
B: wep 5
Q: heal
2-5: rest of the ability slots
and I turn with the mouse.

Even though it seems logical to me, I’m having a hell of a time adjusting. Is keybinding really THAT much better?

Z: forward
Q: turn left
D: turn right
S: backward
W: Look backward
X: 180 degree turn
1-5: weapon skills
Alt: Heal
A,E,R: Utils
Ctrl: Elite

Mouse3: Autorun
Mouse4: Autoloot
Mouse5: Call target

I strafe with the mouse by holding right and pressing turn left/right..
