Hello guys,

I’m using my laptop atm for Guild wars 1 and 2 and Dark Souls 2. The specs are:
- AMD/ATI 7970 2 GB
-Intel core i7-3740QM quad core processor(6 MB cache, 2.7 GHz, Turbo Mode 3,7 GHz)
-32 GB RAM

I have this laptop for more then 2 years already because of divorced parents… and the processors are getting louder and is heating itself up. The game still works fine at High-Specs, but sometimes i see the character, when its running, its running a bit slower and then back normal speed, but then a bit slower…

I’m planning to save money for to buy a new computer (no more laptops, i want a vast computer – desktop). My intention is to use this computer for Guild Wars 2 only (the only MMORPG i’m playing and i love it.

What are the best options about graphic cards and CPU?
I play quite a lot WvW, but also pve, with large scale group events, and pvp.

Is NVDIA better than AMD or it depends? I would like to play the game like Anet plays it haha with good graphs and no more laggfests.

About the budget i’m planning to save for the new computer, i was thinking about 1800 euro….

I’m curious about your reactions

The game runs great on my system. Spec in my sig. But I don’t play WvW. It all depends on what you want out of your PC really. I get about 45+fps on busy maps. I have the game set to 60fps limit, as when doing mapping on quiet maps I was getting over 100 fps and the tearing was killing me eyes.

I just picked this up last week. It’s AWESOME AND AMAZING!!!
Been able to do everything on ultra graphics with no problems.
and at $1300 USD, it’s not a terrible deal.

Only problem, is the OP is from the EU, as he said euros. So I’m not sure he can get the same spec for the same price.

True, if he got that one, he’d have to have someone in the US ship it to him. Bestbuy doesn’t ship international

However, he can search online for that spec and see whats available and the cost in his area.

op

check out the Asus website specific to your area.
The model is G20AJ-B11 That’ll at least give you a starting point and you can go from there.

About the video, I’m not a techie type but I will say I’m sold on NVidia. It seems that most games are most optimized for it and non-NVidia users get more bugs and glitches in their display. At least this was the case in my formative years of computer buying.

I do like NVidia support, they make it easy to get new drivers via the GeForce Experience program.

Yes currently AMD cards under perform, but that is only with DX11 games. NVIDIA lead the way with DX11 games. Also if GW2 go’s DX12 AMD cards might catch up with NVIDIA. NVIDIA do seem to partner with a lot of developers and publishers. Around 90% of my games have the NVIDIA, the way it’s meant to be played splash, the other 10% have nothing. ANet don’t seem to lean to any one GPU manufacturer. So an AMD card would work just as well with GW2. But I personally would pick an NVIDIA card. Been using them my whole pc gaming life, way back in 2000 when I started with an MX440.
