When you’ve filled up your XP bar for a specific mastery, what happens to any additional XP you earn before you train it? Is it lost?

I had a situation yesterday where gliding 2 was maxed out, but I didn’t realize it. I kept on doing events that would have netted XP, but because I hadn’t spent my mastery points to train it, there was nowhere for this XP to “go”. What happens in that situation?

It’s lost. The main clue is that your xp bar doesn’t fill up partway after changing masteries.

Bugs me, too, but for now, we can just keep an eye on the bar and hope to catch when it’s full :/

No, it’s not lost, but it will go to a (seemingly) random other mastery available, not necessarily in the same track. I’ve had Itzel #2 filled 1/3 before I realised that I had finished gliding #2 with the excess experience going over there.

Seriously? I never noticed. I thought that was something a WvW reward did, not what happens when you level a mastery past the required amount of XP. Though I have to admit, I jumped from mastery to mastery for a bit, filling each bar a little, so anything extra probably went completely unnoticed.

I stand corrected, then. Still sucks that it doesn’t go toward the next level instead. I don’t even want some of those other masteries yet ;P

Oh wow thanks Rasimir for clearing that up! I wondered how the heck I managed to fill Forgotten lore level 1, but this explains that mystery too. I’m also with Red Queen that I’d prefer it if the default behavior was to fill up the next tier of your current track.
