Hi guys,

I only have about 97ish% magic find, I have found that salvaging exotic gear (and the ectos I get from them) gives me heaps of luck. I am wondering what the best way to go about getting a lot of exotic gear or the best way to get MASSIVE AMOUNTS of luck.

When in SW I get my magic find up to 300%, will this effect what I get from embroidered pouches… eg: go to EoTM and farm the hell out of some bags, go to SW, get magic find up as far as I can and open the EoTM embroidered pouches.

funny thing about Magic Find…. doesn’t help at all on those bags.

Well that sucks, i wonder why it doesn’t work with those bags :S

ANet likely didn’t want people hoarding bags until they got max luck. Then opening them.

Salvaging exotics into ectos into C.dust is probably the most cost ineffective way to raise your magic find. A good way to increase your luck without costing much is to just salvage all the blues and greens you get. This is usually profitable cloth, about break even for wood and metal, and a loss for leather(you can salvage leather if you want but you make 50c-1s per piece more vendoring it).

Magic find doesn’t work on chests(for JPs, world bosses, dungons…. ect),or champ bag. It generally only works on mob drops, bandit chests(not the bags inside), and some spvp containers.

edit: It also works on the envelopes from the recent lunar new year.

Thanks for the info, the main reason i want a higher magic find is to farm the hell out of T6 mats from SW. That’s really the only reason I want high magic find.

I Think you misunderstood when i said “cost ineffective”, I meant that salvaging ectos for luck is a large monetary loss, and salvaging exotic for ectos is also a monatary loss unless they are very cheap and you are very lucky(not magic find lucky).

This is a very good articular written by the forum’s TP expert the whole thing is a good read but you will probably be most interested in the part about “Luck Salvaging” if you do some math it is very possible to make a bit of money and boost your luck at the same time.

map completion of areas 65+, everything else depends on your luck.

Need luck to get more luck, makes sense :/

• Farm Gold (or buy gems and convert to gold if you have RL money to burn)
• Buy Ectos (put in buy orders so you don’t waste more gold).
• Salvage Ectos (with at LEAST Mystic / Master kits)
• Luck + T6 Dust (you can keep (lots of uses) or sell for some gold return).

Note that there have been plenty of posts that the above can actually be profitable, but the odds of that are VERY low.

Champion bags were a late addition to the game. Players weren’t bothering to go after them at all because the risk/reward ratio was seriously weighted towards the risk side (drop items and rates pretty much indistinguishable from basic enemies). ANet responded by granting Champion level enemies a means of distributing guaranteed rewards. To compensate for the guarantee, the rewards tend to be terrible and Magic Find does not apply, but the bags also gave a chance at some unique skins and a fair amount of gold.

The gold was drastically reduced a while later after players started to do nothing but farm champions.
