So I just got the game yesterday and I need some lvling tips. I do all the heart quests and try to explore but I can’t seem to lvl at a reasonable pace. I lvl maybe once an hour. What should I be doing for the most efficient route to 80?

I usually don’t have a problem leveling, when I see a DE start, I drop what I am doing and head over to that. I jump over to other racial areas of the same level and run the hearts and DE’s there too.

That and I always to make sure I “complete” a map that I am on, the poi’s, vistas, and other stuff.

Do nothing. Although a level 80 has an upper hand over a lower level, you really should enjoy the game around you and not rush to the end level.

And if you level once an hour, I find that quite a reasonable pace. In GW2 the time it takes to complete a level flattens out. You don’t need to worry that if now you do a level in an hour, later it’s gonna take 6 hours or a full day. At level 70 you’re gonna take an hour also to level up.

Anyway, anything in the game can level you up. Try crafting or WvW and see how that fares for you.

I’m in no rush but I dont want to be in the noobie zone for 20 hours. And how do I get to other starter zones?

Do Crafting & Gathering resources, they give very good exp.

Rez any fallen player and NPC during your adventure. also good exp.

I was told queue for PvP also give very good exp, haven’t try it out myself, still too many things to do with this new toy.

If you want to lvl even faster, purchase the EXP Boost from the TP, with “real” $$.

Every home city has a portal to a city hub called Lion’s Arch. Go to your city, look for a purple swirl on the map, go to it and basically to Lion’s Arch, and there you will find portals to all the other cities. Next to all cities are the starting areas for the corresponding races.

think of the hearts as magazines in a waiting room. because of a lot of the ‘hidden’ content, you could easily spend several hours in the starting areas (and because of the down-leveling and loot-scaling you could theoretically level to 80 without ever leaving queensdale/wayfarer/metrica/caledon/ashford).

follow npcs and pay attention to what’s going on in the game. even after playing since bwe1 and following the game since 2007, i’m still learning what habits and preconceptions i’m bringing from other games.
