A thread for Mac users sharing their woes and solutions with the Mac client.
I’m sure some of you that updated to macOS Sierra has had a kernel panic or two when running the official release of the Mac client. For a while I thought it was a fault on Anet’s side, though it’s actually an issue with cider that the client is wrapped with. I’ve swapped from the official Mac client to the Windows 64bit client run with a modified version of the setup listed here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2_on_Wine#Using_the_64-bit-Client
The settings I have for DirectX in Wine are:
I’m able to run the game in Ultra settings, save for the Shaders set to “Low”, on my Late 2013 iMac (2.7GHz i5 ) and the only issue I face is when Silverwastes farming and the world around me doesn’t load. Looks like I’m running on air, but at least I can follow the nameplates and jump around to keep up.
EDIT: So I found that changing the OffscreenRendering to pbuffer allows me to run on the highest settings, including high shaders.
