It is worth it in a way… the percentage/band improvements on loot for the individual in the gear is more predictable and stable than the impact of group members capabilities on loot.

Yes it is worth it
No it will not turn all your blue drops into exotics.
However the usefulness of buying a full exotic set of MF gear with tons of gold is questionable. Blue/green MF gear has the exact same amount of MF and doesn’t cost you a small fortune.
Keep in mind that when the diminishing returns kick in, +100% chance to get almost no rare loot is still going to be almost no rare loot. Nothing saves you from DR.
I’m guessing many of the farmers you’re seeing not using MF gear are farming events or material bags or dungeon chests where MF doesn’t help. Most probably just don’t care.

Since they nerfed pent/shelt, I dont think its practical to get MF now. Most of the good loot are now found in chests (boss chests) and MF does nothing to that.
