I recently hit level 80 and have slowly made a few gold. First thing I learned was to drop crafting and leave it alone. I haven’t seen how useful it is except for earning achievements. I have sold much of my crafting material and I think I am tipping at 6 and a half gold at the moment.

What options do I, as a level 80 solo elementalist, have to make coin now?

Some things in mind:
*Been solo since the day I started (two months ago)
*Never have run a dungeon in GW2 (and knowing the atmosphere of some people about knowing roles, etc, I am not confident I can just ‘join up’ a run)
*I do not PvP in any form. It is not my cup of tea. I like PvE.
*I do participate in group events in Kryta.
*I am still a newb. =( What this means is that catchy abbreviations and nicks for peeps, places and things are all Greek to me.

I’d appreciate some helpful input! Thanks!

Join a guild. I don’t care if you want to play by yourself, there is no single-player online rpg.

Crafting can be a good way of earning gold. As long as you gather the resources yourself. Farm world bosses, if you see something you can invest in, invest, do dungeons (theyre not that hard) CoF is fun and very easy, even if its your first time. Basically just play and put away any gold/silver you have in your bank and dont touch it, and itll mount up

I’m not one of the big money makers but I can suggest these.
If you are inclined to do so, try flipping in the trading post. I’ve never done it but people say its good money.
If not that then:
I run about 5 or 6 of the Meta events most days then sale or salvage the rares and sell the other stuff. That earns a little money. I use this timer and guest to 2 other servers to get them done fast. http://us.gw2stuff.com/en
Check which mats sell well and their locations and farm.
Locate ori nodes and harvest them, have a regular route. If you have high level alts you can park them there.
Of course, sell all your mats on the trading post.

I’m sure others will have other suggestions. ^^

^^ Got that covered. Already in a guild, but it is fairly quiet. I am fairly casual – from what I have gathered, to run groups with them, gotta have TS or Vent. Not willing to set up for that.

Thanks so far to the other two – Helpful suggestions!

Gold and Platinum ore.
You only need to be lv20 for gold and 30 for platinum. There are places where rich nodes of both types will always spawn.

It is also worth it to do map completion on the higher level maps(Mount Maelstrom, Frostgorge Sound, all of Orr and maybe Fireheart Rise). Obviously you can’t repeat those on a character but the exotics can contain some expensive upgrade items. Ideally you have a black lion salvage kit around to dig them out. Aside from those the crafting material can also be very nice.

selling the materials would yield the same, if not more money

We all do as we must to make our way in this world and unfortunately,
we have to do things others may qualify as “evil”.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. It depends on the materials and items.

The problem with crafting for profit is that while it can be easy since you are just comparing a bunch of prices. It can also be a bit time consuming. It might be less time consuming if you get used so you know what is or isn’t in demand. I only do random bits of it and only in cases where I am guaranteed a decent profit(around 10s+ after taxes, fees and the value of raw materials). I usually end up doing that when I need the items myself and I need to check if it would be cheaper to buy or to craft it myself.
