Don’t you worry, people will quickly figure out the quickest paths so that instead of spamming CoF P1, you’ll be spamming various paths in various dungeons.

yeah but it would be pretty hard to find a group because people are only going to do a path one time

Welcome to the lives of everyone running dungeons other than cof, Frank! :P I jest, it’s not that hard to find people to do dungeons; there are so many people looking for groups. Things that are hard to get groups for now (Arah p4, various story dungeons) will still be tough after the patch, but the lfg site will have more variety, rather than 90% of it being cof p1 farms! That’s really exciting.

I never farmed CoF P1 so I shouldn’t be bummed, but I am, why?
Well I keep hearing (now) how much gold people are making and how is it going to go away.

Meanwhile ANET still hasn’t buffed some crazy long exp paths that no one ever wants to do because they aren’t worth the time.

Worth the time is subjective. Some people enjoy playing the game for the challenge and obstacles. And as of now, Arah and Lupi are one of the bigger challenges in the game. Taking the path of least resistance because it is profitable, rather than challenging, engaging, or fun is pretty gross and a mindset I think crossed over from other MMOs.

Until the age of speed clears in GW, UW and FoW runs could take hours. If you wiped, there were no waypoints. Your party was booted from the dungeon that you paid to get into. Yet people loved them. There is nothing in GW2 currently as hard or demanding as that, but all of the dungeons now (even story mode), give you more in the way of guaranteed loot for completion.

Its a bit of an old fogey rant, but “Lets do this dungeon to kill ALL THE THINGS! …And maybe we’ll get some ecto” has been replaced with “That takes too long and doesn’t pay me enough” was a saddening turn in the communities disposition.

I completely agree Acidic. I miss those endless FoW runs, creeping our way from section to section, hoping for a good drop to pay for the trip down, but not being kitten ed if I didn’t get an ecto. The only thing that ever kitten ed me off was running out of keys mid run(the worst!!).

I miss the feel of running instances for the challenge, the joy, the fun, the bragging rights, the potential drops. Now it seems everything must give guaranteed drops or it’s a waste of time. “Why would I run Arah when I can run CoF1 for madlootz?” Because Arah could be more fun or more challenging or something new?

It’s simple, instead of doing CoF P1, CoF P1, CoF P1, CoF P1, you could just do CoF P1, CoE P1, HotW P1 (insert other quick and easy dungeons), get your tokens and farm for ectos as usual and a nice extra gold bonus on top.

Personally I see it as a nerf only if you run the same path over and over, but a big buff if you run dungeons ocasionally or run different paths.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

Honestly I don’t see why CoF P1 can’t still be farmed after the update. You’ll still get the item drops and tokens, right? Even if the actual gold drop changes?
