Making new character - Help
Play whatever class you enjoy playing the most. Guardian and Warrior from my experience are easier to level, do events with. Mesmer is really fun to play especially in PvP but not great farming / doing events.
Whatever class you decide to go for just make sure that your next character is Asura.
Asura > Charr > rest…
Fun in dungeons, WvW and PvP, Mesmer.
Easy and fun and good all around profession, Ranger.
The most beautiful and greatest race which you will pick, Sylvari.
I personally avoid Warriors. Never liked them, never probably will. Just too much of “hack n smash” that requires no brains to play.

Play whatever you want.

Yeah i know i can play whatever i want, just wanting to see what the community like
For general PVE (only thing I do) I like ranger, engineer, thief, elementalist and guardian.
Warrior is easy but gets boring IMO. Never really got the hang of Necros or Mesmers but I know other people really like them.

Ranger. they are op.
Warrior (44), Engineer (80) and Ranger (80) were great for me.
Warrior for easy-AoE melee damage and heavy armor.
Engineer for support/healing in dungeons.
Ranger for ranged AoE, distracting champs/bosses with pet and spirits.
I’m still trying the other classes out too but none of my other alts are above Level 8 yet.
Drake Rovan – L80 Human Ranger AoE Ranger/Spirit Buffer
If you enjoy GW2’s gameplay, all of the classes are fun to play. Even the ones that under-perform in comparison to the others. Without knowing more about your preferences, anything else would just be rambling on my part.
You wouldn’t like me when I ramble.
Really, it’s too individual. My first was a Ranger and I liked that. My second was a Guardian and I was surprised to like that one better. I wouldn’t have guessed for the Guardian to turn out to be my favorite. You will just have to try them out, maybe in the Mists where you have access to all your traits and skills.
elementalists D/D is well rounded
mesmer if you like kiting
warior for leeroy jenkins
guardian if you like helping people
Thief if you wanna see big numbers
necromancer if you wanna see alot of numbers
engineer if you dare
Ranger. they are op.
Heh. OP? No. Powerful and useful? Yes. That being said, I main a ranger and enjoy it greatly.
Main: Caeimhe – Sylvari Ranger
Alts: Charr Guardian, Asura Elementalist, Human Thief, Norn Necromancer
All of the professions play differently so it’s really a matter of what playstyle you like. Which might well mean it’s down to trial and error.
For example warrior is a relatively straight-forward damage dealer, you use utility skills to get buffs to allow you to do more damage and your profession specific mechanic (F1 skill) is a special attack that does more damage. Whereas engineers are more reliant on using conditions and different types of attacks (via kits) for different situations and their F key skills are mainly extra utilities.
Then elementalists use their F key skills to change their attunement to give them different skills and rely on swapping regularly as appropriate to fight effectively.
And so on. (I’m not going to do all 8 professions or I’d be here all day.)
