This doesn’t seem to be working for me.
I followed all the steps, after I i kill the facet do I go in the green vortex?
Dont you need to DMG first the Mob before he spawns the minions?
how do i do that without the vortexes?
The whole instance mechanic seemed a bit wonky to me. What exactly is supposed to spawn the bubble? Killing the facet doesn’t. They seem to appear randomly. But what you need to do is like Irmo said:
- Get in bubble
- While “Fragile” (you get that from bubble) destroy the vortex (stand next to it)
- 2nd and 3rd bosses take damage.
The colour thing is something you need for the 1st boss, and if the 3rd boss vortex is located inside a “coloured” area.
I’m stuck at about 2/3 his health, I had a phase where he summoned some facets, but now he’s stopped summoning vortexes, so I can’t damage him…help, PLS! bug?

Problem for me was that the vortex is unkillable, i could do 2-3 hits and then it always
healed up to max hitpoints.

You simply need to have both the color buff (the one that gives you protection when you approach the color field) and the fragile buff at the same time and stand near the vortex crystal, you won’t get knocked back then.

The fight is still bugged. Or at least, the vortex is. Even with the two buffs, I still get knocked back.
Ok I circumvented the problem by double-dodging into the vortex’kitten box. His knockback has a cooldown, and you can dodge into it in-between his knockbacks.

Still not able to do anything to damage this 3rd boss. Can’t get to the vortex because of where it is right in the middle of the green light. Unable to dodge in while it cools down too. Any more ideas?
The difficulty (in my playthrough) was to have both the light attunemnt from the facet (without triggering the invincibility) and the fragility buff at the same time, as it’s only when you have both that you can enter the light and stay there long enough for the vortex to get the buff.
@osta, in that screenshot, you dont have the green light buff from killing a minion.
In this fight you need to kill a minion and acquire the Fragile buff, then go stand in the green light to make the Vortex fragile, then destroy it when the boss gets near
1 – kill minion, this gives you the color buff
2 – while still with that buff, run through a fragile ovoid (NOT one that is in aoe — apparently you can get them spawning more spread out if you kite the minion a bit as you kill it)
3 – now with both color and fragile, hug the vortex crystal. Be careful getting to it, anything that hits you on the way will down you instantly and you lose the buffs, though Marjory does rez you. You want to be right on top of it to make sure it gets fragiled.
4 – melee the vortex crystal. It should explode in a hit or two, and it does significant boss damage when it does.
5 – get the heck away, the time you spent on that let the boss come at you!
Sometimes you will not find a usable fragile before you lose your color, which only means you have to kill another minion to restart the buffing.

I did get the green coating buff, as you can see I have the protective bubble on. When you have the green coating, and get close to the green vortex, you get the protective bubble buff that allows you to walk in the ground AoE death.
The bubble gets you knocked back, you need to have the green light buff (ie, the step BEFORE the bubble) AND the fragile buff at once so that you can walk under the light and stay there long enough for the vortex to grab fragile.
Boss wont spawn vortexes any more after 50% HP. is this a bug? did ANet break the instance now?
I’m not getting any more vortex(s) and I just have a small amount of hp left on the Boss. Is this a bug. Really frustrating because I don’t want to restart this whole thing over again
I reran it yesterday with no problem so if there’s a bug it’s not affecting everyone. I found that there’s sometimes a delay between breaking a vortex and the next one spawning, but it shouldn’t be more than 5-8 seconds.

I have heard of vortexes spawning in the walls so it may be that has happened to you. If so then that is a bug.
I ran it with two guildies last night and with maybe 1/4 health left the vortex spawned deep in the wall, unreachable with fragile. We ended up double-digit direct damage whittling the boss down from there. It was slow but it worked.
I also found at seemingly random times, having both buffs and getting knocked back. couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong, although eventually I was able to get the vortex enough times.

That’s what I thought. I killed the summoned critter first, got the color buff, managed to grab the fragile buff from that seething circle of hell, then tried to get close to the vortex, and I kept getting pushed back. I’ve done this several times with the same result. It’s got to be a bug of some kind. I watched a vid on youtube, and went the way you describe it, but not for me. I made sure I was close to the vortex when I got color buff, so I had plenty of time. Just keep getting pushed back all the bleepin time >.<
I’ve given up on the story for now until they can fix this.
edit: if this really is a bug, the game logic may only be looking at the most recent buff – the fragile buff, thinking you don’t have the color buff, and pushing you back because of it. It should be taking both into account, but it could just be that a logic fix is needed in the code. Why it’s only happening to some people is a mystery except that perhaps not all servers have the same exact code. They should, but maybe they don’t.

I assume this is what all the nomads and clerics have been begging for? Some extreme gimmick boss that negates all of your profession’s attack abilities in favor of some convoluted/bugged gimmick mechanic? The in-game description of this only makes it worse…as it does not even try to describe what needs to be done to damage this thing. Sad that you have to tab out and search the internet for something that actually does damage to this boss. This is not “fun” ANET…in fact…its extremely frustrating and annoying to have to deal with this. If you are going to put stuff like this in the game…put it somewhere where it does not block what little progression there is in this game so far….some open world champion maybe…not blocking living story completion. I know I would have ignored this after the first attempt if I didn’t have to get past it to complete the living story content.

the best thing I found.. finally.. is to become fragile FIRST, then run into the colored light and destroy the vortex… super annoying and time consuming
I soloed this today on my ranger. This is the steps I used.
Hit hit hit till he spawns the orb, place on turret, pet return to me, lure to him until he was 1/3 dead, keep doing this.
Cheap stage: make sure to be moving in a circle around the edge of the centre, collect the orb, and kill spawn, place orb in it, go into circle Attack boss, then circle should blast him doing damage, keep the circle going.
Repeat stage 1,2 till he is dead
