Map completion
with map completion, you have to not just reveal the map, but also do all hearts, vistas, waypoints, and POI’s, not forgetting cities. Hidden parts of the map(normally jumping puzzle’s). my advice would be do it on what ever class you find the most fun to play, as you will be playing them for awhile. Also, don’t think to much about how you are going to do the map. just play it for fun. if you make it in to work, you’ll get fed up quickly.
I took a different approach with mapping on my Rev, I did all the HC in the core game first (and grabbed one from WvW) so I only need 50 HP to finish herald when I get to HoT. now I have them all, I’m doing my PS. as playing this will take me to parts of the game I may not have mapped yet, and I can do a few things as I go. once I’ve done the story, and LS2, I’ll head In to HoT to grab the last 50 points. then I’ll look at what Maps I’m closet to finishing. and start in the area that has the most. I’ll start from the closest city, and work my way out and around if possible.
seeing as Ive mapped some map already, I’ll probably start from TBC, in to plains of ashford, blaze ridge, Iron marches, fire heart rise, frostgorge, snowden, Lormier pass, Timberland, Dredgehaunt, holbreck, wayfair, then finally diessa. once I’ve done that, I’ll look at what I can do next that will map maps easy to do, and know what will be the easy way to keep track of what areas I’ll needing to go to.

For me, I think doing it as a Thief is the easiest, because of how you can use your 20 second stealth and channel the Commune hero points without needing to fight the veterans around (in Orr, I did that with 20 mobs standing around, didn’t need to wait for an event to clear the area). But I would still advise you to do it on whichever character you play most, since you’ll be needing to see all the waypoints on that character.
I did the maps from left to right (leaving Orr for last). Cleared all of Kryta, then Shiverpeaks, then Ascalon, since it was easier for me to keep track of world completion. Then I completed Orr before doing my final personal story missions there.
If movement speed is an issue for you, you can consider getting some traveler runes which are at an all time low. They give u permanent 25% movement speed, an alternative thats about 3g cheaper (for full set) are speed runes but the stats aren’t as good.
I used superior rune of air for my thief and engi to have perma swiftness. Should work well with other classes that have a healing skill on low CD with access to other methods of swiftness.
I agree that you should use whichever profession you enjoy most, because even doing it quickly you’re going to spend a lot of time on them, and the frustration of playing something you don’t like is likely to rapidly outweigh any minor benefits like easier speed boosts or extra stealth.
Admittedly I’ve never tried to do it as quickly as possible, but when I’m doing map completion I find it easiest to just go from one goal (POI, vista, heart etc.) to the next nearest one rather than trying to follow a set pattern. Or if I happen to know the terrain I’ll work around it (for example in Caledon, starting from the Grove, I always go east first, to do the low level bit between Astoria and Morgan’s Spiral because it’s largely closed off from the rest of the map. Then I’ll go to Ogham Wilds and head north from there).
It might also be helpful to turn the content guide on and set it to ignore the story and events. That way it’ll point you to anything nearby you might miss, like POIs that aren’t obvious.
