Tried posting this earlier but don’t see it, sorry if its a repeat…

I’m at 96% map completion with my Engineer but know very little about WvW.

Any advice or hints about WvW with the goal of rapid map completion would be greatly appreciated…

Main ? – How does one get the points behind enemy lines? (I’m not a thief)

The simplest is just to wait until the matchups are shuffled and hope you get the color you need as your home borderland, then rush to take what you can before invaders start to have an impact. Well, unless your server has periods where it can dominate a matchup and wipe out a given map (ask around in WvW or out, someone may know and give you an idea of when to get on).

Basically if you are on Eredon Terrace—you can forget about it. We continue to own last place and will never be in a position to be the least bit competitive. Near impossible to do without switching servers unless you luck out the way cpg suggested.
Hopefully you are on a good wvw server. If only I did the server transfer when it was free,(and many got their 100% that way) I would have my 100% instead of being stuck at 99.

What cpg said is probably your best bet – depending on how active your server is on WvW, enemy camps and towers shouldn’t be too hard to get but keeps can be tricky, especially the ones in EB. Sometimes you just gotta wait for your server’s color to change.

Good luck with your map completion(: I finished just a few months ago, if WvW is all you have left you should be done pretty soon.

Awesome thank you all for the support! I’m glad to hear it’s a simple matter of map rotation. I’m pretty confident now it will be painless on my server, Stormbluff Isle.

As soon as I finish this then I’ll have the joy of going down the explored area lists to get the Explorer achievements, that of course, I’m also close on.

Haha I’m on kaineng and you should be fine. I don’t know how you guys got green instead of us in the last matchup since green EB/bl stuff is all I have left.

With the new feature of rotating team colors in WvW, getting map completion has become a lot easier. Just wait a little while and your server will eventually be red, blue, and green different weeks. Just grab everything you can, when you can.

Off times are great for gathering those few hard to reach points/vistas.

And even ET should have no problem getting map completion. The only hard thing to achieve would be stonemist. And hopefully even ET gets stonemist once in a while.

I’m on FC, the next lowest tier server, and I was easily able to get 100% WvW map completion on an ALT the last few weeks. We take stonemist very rarely, but when we did I jumped on the chance to grab the points/vistas. The rest was just a waiting game for us to draw the right color.

For stonemist, what I do is wait until my server has it, then rush to discover it on any and every alt I have. Or, at least, ones I can see myself going for world completion with. If you can take care of it for good in the course of 1 hour or so you save yourself a lot of trouble.

As a newcomer to WvW, one bit of advice.
Don’t go wandering off on your own, looking to grab a particular vista or skill point.
Dangers lurk at every turn and your chance of making it alive are slim to negligible.
Stay with your Commander and his zerg. Rofflestomp your way round and grab nearby vistas and SPs during breaks in the action. Most of them are placed where you will probably pass through often. You’ll find the karma and loot are VERY acceptable and you might come to realise it’s actually a good way to level.

The difficult ones are the Skrit and Centaur camps – because you have to fight the NPCs there and there’s not much of PvP interest in the area – you’ll have to go get those on your own – save them to last. And certainly wait until you hold the right colour map for them.
