I’m a solo player with one toon reaching lvl 30. I have no IRL friends who play so I’m on my own learning things.
I’ve made myself familiar with all the maps I can find on line. I’m surprized at how few up-to-date maps there are and how few fan sites with maps I can find. (compared to other similar games).
Maybe that’s supposed to be part of the fun.

But I don’t see, with the info I’ve found, too many zones for 30-40 or 30-50 play, especially compared to the other lower and higher levels.

Any feedback on zones to play at 30 – or suggestions for maps? (especially showing where one zone ports to another tho maybe discovering that is part of the fun).

Congrats on leveling! I’m just about to get my first character to 50. I’ve been enjoying going back and forth between Lornar’s Pass, Fields of Ruin, Gendarran Fields and now Blazeridge Steppes depending on what I felt like doing. I’m not above touring a lower level area too if I haven’t been there yet. Part of the fun for me is wandering around to see new things.

You might like http://gw2cartographers.com/ as a resource, I use it for hints on vistas etc. I’m not aware of other map sites but I do like this one.

At level 30 theres 3 zones for content your level, genderran fields, lornars pass and fields of ruin.

That said you can head to any below your level and gain xp and loot as same rate.

The wiki is probably your best bet for any info on the game, especially things like up to date maps. Because it’s edited by multiple people it’s likely to get updated quicker than most fan sites.

As for levelling don’t forget you can visit any areas that are below your level and get the same XP you would in level appropriate areas. I’ve done most of my levelling by going around the other races starting areas.

Many thanks for your posts.

A comment about above – I have been “playing down” especially to the new Living Story, but I quickly discovered that even though I get roughly equal XP, I’m not getting rewards, especially filling local hearts, that provide enough silver for my level.

So – unless I’m missing something – I need to play up against my actual level to get max rewards.

I have found that the highest coin rewards come from hearts in a zone at my level. I haven’t paid too much attention to the XP rewards since I’m not in a leveling rush.

Selling items on the Trading Post (TP) rather than to vendors also nets me a bit more cash. Usually crafting resources sell for only a copper or two more than vendors pay, but it adds up. As long as the net amount will be more than the TP selling fee and the vendor price, it’s worth it to me.

Oh, I wasn’t thinking about cash from hearts. When I said the loot is the same I meant drops. You should still get weapons and armor for your level even if you’re in a lower level zone.

(Although some things I think are completely random, I got Abyss dye from a level 12 mob on a level 17 character the other day.)
