Guild Wars 2

Hi guys,

I’m being a n00b when it comes to unlocking the mastery traits. I am lv80 and have got 635,000/635,000 exp towards the pact mentor trait. I have GW2 HoT and when I go into the mastery system both maguuma and tyria are locked (Tyria has 8 next to it) just wondering what I have to do to unlock these?

Do I need to complete the living world 2 before I can unlock these?

Also could you give me a run down on which one is more favourable or is it just personal preference?

FYI it does say locked “Travel to heart of Magumma and complete torn from the sky” I think I need to complete the HoT story am I correct in thinking this?

You must complete the Torn from Sky story instance and enter Verdant Brink before you are able to use masteries in either HoT or Core Tyria. Once that’s done you will get access to the mastery system.

You need to do the first two instances of the HoT story on any character to unlock the masteries for the account. For the Tyria masteries it is just whatever you like.

For magumma I would go with gliding 1, itzel lore 1, gliding 2, exalted lore 1, then whatever.

It’s not the entire story, it’s the first chapter and it takes maybe 1/2 an hour because it’s a story with in game and pre-recorded cut scenes. It starts in the Silverwastes.
