If anyone has some help on what mobs drop some materials it would be appreciated.

I’ve spent the last 3 game plays farming in newbie area and 1-15 zone for jute from bags or salvaging light armor off Svanir but cannot for the life of me get glittering dust, vial of blood, poison sacs or bone chips. I had to buy some dust off the TP and some blood, but at the rate 48 copper for blood I can only afford so much to craft. Mighty inscriptions take 8 vials not counting other crafted items it needs.

Reptiles are dropping fur, barracudas and skaloks are dropping nothing but trophies or gear, spiders drop 1 sac about every 20 minutes. I’ve actually leveled 21-24 between starter, at 7xp per, and 1-15 zone that by the time I craft the 20 gear, I’m already at 25. I’m at lvl 60+ in both armor and weapon but would like to be able to use my gear before I out level it. I only have 1 destroyer silver and one other kind of craft-able metal that I know can be used for a discovery but I don;t have enough.

I also sell drops for the coin to buy from the TP, and better salvage kits but I’m not getting any rare mats nor gaining ground fast enough.

Check other regions. Lots of spiders in human starting land for example.

I get a lot of jute for doing 1-15 areas from the explore chest you get for finding everything. I may have been lucky though as I think it may be random on what mat you get.

For dust try the starter Charr area, that’s about all those ghosts drop regularly. Blood can be found from minotaurs though the best concentration I found was the harpies in Queensdale. Poison you can get from grubs/worms and spiders, there’s a couple areas in several zones with relatively fast respawns and/or lots of mobs to farm. Bone chips I found regularly off ice trolls in the norn area, otherwise I haven’t seen them as often.

Another completely diffrent option is to kill centaur or bandits as the bags they drop randomly become any crafting item (harvestable and drop). There are several events with tons of these kinds of mobs that if you can ae tag you can get a great deal of materials off of.

Skales are your friends for Vials of Blood! They have a pretty good drop rate for it. I’m not sure if they’re found in every start zone but certainly human and sylvari zones have them.

I believe they drop faaairly reliably from bats as well.

As far as for the cloth itself i haven’t found a good way to farm it besides DEing stuff off humanoids and hoping for some in the bags.

There is a Durmond Priory camp very near the Ascalonian Catacombs that has two events that run pretty frequently; both are defense quests, one from harpies and one from ghosts. You can collect a lot of glittering dust and blood from those two events.

As has been said, dust drops from ghosts a lot, skale and drakes drop blood, I’ve had asura enemies in asura areas drop tiny totems etc.

The jute is not a problem nor getting bags from miners or Svenir, it’s the other mats I mentioned. Ascalon is a good suggestion. I’ll try that. I’m trying to stay within the low levels areas to not out level my crafting by gaining too much XP.

I’m in the same boat, running low on fine materials to level crafting. I have a bunch of blood and bone chips from norn starting area, and virtually nothing else. I was trying to stick to the norn areas, but realizing you need to broaden your horizons to broaden your resource pools…

Krait drop scales in abundance.

If you are looking for a good mix of items though your best bet is Centaurs and Pirates. The loot bags they drop are a great source of ALL crafting mats. Just find an area with an event and they will spawn in large numbers. In the level 35 zone I was getting 20+ bags during a 20 minute event chain.

I have a character who has not yet completed the Human opening quest “Defense of Shaemoor”. If I need materials, I switch to that character, kill lots of (endlessly spawning) centaurs which drop consumable bags and hooves and little else. When opened these bags produce materials which can be deposited into the bank.

I know my friend does alot of underwater farming for mats and seems to have good luck. the only item i know for sure how to get is bone chips in the hoelbreck starter zone. The ice trolls in the north part of the zone which inhabit a small area just east of the village with the dolyak hunt event drop bone chips like mad.

On another note its really nice that while im farming lower level areas mobs drop gear that closer to my level.

You might have luck with dust and blood by doing the Charr 1-15 area. There’s a decent concentration of ghosts for dust and harpies for the blood. I found the minotaur and skelk groups drop a lot of blood in the Norn area as well, for something closer to home.

Try the river drakes in Queensdale for Tiny Scales and Tiny Claws. That’s where I went to farm.
