Maybe It's Too Early To Tell But..
Arena Net = Valve for MMOs. Seriously though, they understand how to put out a polished product. One of the issues is they established themselves as a quality company. In result, it isn’t about the bottom line, but about sustaining excellence in the MMO department.
Main Character: Lugg Knut (Charr/Engineer)
Guild: Bed Intruders [HIDE]
There were/are a number of bugs, and other issues such as no auction house, but that is pretty standard with new MMO’s, I will say though I am impressed with the speed and frequency the updates. They seem to roll out fixes every day or two, and many times I have caught a bug only to see it fixed in the next couple days.
Many other MMO’s have taken a lot longer to roll out fixes (weeks and months), even at release, Arena Net is truly running agile development.
Before and during the Beta, I was trying my best to not over hype the game to myself. I did that with several other releases, and they all eventually bombed.
I’ve played at least every other day since the early start, and I think by now I can honestly say…
… this game’s got chops.

I’m enjoying myself quite a bit. Cancelled a few other accounts to spend most of my time here. I’m wondering how the changes in this game will play out with modern expectations in an MMO. All through the forums we see which class is best, which xyz needs role xyz. People have comformed to the ways of previous games and breaking the mold is going to be hard or fail. And honestly, it also concerns me that there is no monthly fee. I hope there are tons of expansion packs with expensive price tags to afford Arena.net the costs of creation. Otherwise, I see tons of level 80s running around with nothing to do and no funds for creating activities. Only 1, besides my GF and I, of my SWTOR buddies came to test the waters with GW2. I expected many more with the way that game has been going down hill.

As for funding, there will probably be expansions every year-1.5 years, combined with the cash shop of course. I think the rate of free content updates versus expansions will largely be decided by how much the cash shop makes. If the cash shop makes enough money we’ll see more content inbetween expansion, if not, we’ll probably see less content between expansions.
This is the most fun i’ve had in an MMO at launch, except maybe ultima online, but i cant really compare the 2. Decades apart and a whole different look and playstyle.
I feel Guild War 2 is a MMO lite. I love it I never feel like I am falling to far behind and that I can never do things with my friends because our levels are just to far apart. WvWvW is PVP how I like it and once again I can do it with my friends as we do not need to be any specific level.
I like this so much I even bought 2 more copies for my kids. I have never done that with ANY other MMO.
This game is simply amazing, and I cannot comprehent that anyone would pay subscribtion fee playing WoW, after this game!
Well done Anet!
