Hi, I can’t decide which proffesion is better for dungeoning. Which class gives more support to the team in dungeons?

Well if you just wanna support in dungeons maybe go water staff ele simply because you’ll have more toys to play around with, I’m talking about all those heals and condition removals that are also combo fields, and let’s not forget the two combo blasts.

You won’t really feel very “supportive” as a mesmer, though I’m not saying it can’t support. My mesmer, for example, is a full glass cannon but still has a really strong support component (Time Warp and Null Field), but like I said it can’t really compare to all the “supportery” an ele can dish out.

Don’t forget that support isn’t 100% about helping your allies, sometimes good support comes in the form of hindering your enemy. Applying regular blinds, immobilizations, vulnerability, and weakness all tip the balance of the combat in the favor of your group. I know that this form of support is called “control” but really, you’re supporting your group above all else. Killing an enemy really fast is also a form of support, just think about all the damage you prevented to the group by annihilating that target so fast. No matter which class you pick, just remember that being too squishy doesn’t do any good for the group. How much are you really helping when your laying on the ground bleeding to death?

I’ve run dungeons while grouped with both mesmers and elementalists and depending on the player’s skill it was a real smooth or a real rough experience. Neither is better suited to a particular task in terms of running dungeons or pvp or whatever else there is to do. There are however certain trait, gear, and skill combinations that lend themselves better to running dungeons, pvping, etc… Decide which profession you like more, learn as much about it as possible, and you will eventually figure out which builds are better suited to your needs.

As a (former) condition necro I loved having eles on my team make weapons (the ice bow in peticular). Since conditions don’t do anything to objects and Anet makes killing objects (burrows in AC) a dungeon objective I went from being completely useless to worthwhile.
