So I think my end game goal will be to get a Legendary, I have both at 20 ish and still cant pick, anyone here play both to a High lvl? The forums absolutely trash Mesmers in PvE yet up to lvl 20 I dont see it, I find I kill mobs 2x as fast as anything but my War, and yet I read it only gets better?

Never listen to the forums when they say something isn’t good, because they just don’t know what they’re talking about.

Personally, I find that everything that isn’t my ranger sucks at everything compared to my ranger. He’s got a 75% win rate in PvP, handles dungeons with underleveled, undergeared, first-timers in PUGs without death, has the best crowd control in the game, is actually able to CC bosses etc…

But, someone who plays their own profession as good as I play my ranger will have just as easy of a time.

Honestly, the reason mesmer is bad in PvE is simply due to a lack of reliable AoE for mob tagging when doing events, leading to a lower income.

We can fight just fine, we’re just too backloaded for mob tagging in cases of extreme AoE madness.

There’s never any extreme AoE madness anymore. The Orrian zerg is dead and gone, and that was the only thing a mesmer could ever have a problem with.

Personally, I love my Necro in endgame PvE (2nd healthbar ftw! ^^), but I’d suggest you just use the profession you’re more comfortable with or – even more sensible – that you have more fun playing. Or if you really can’t decide, level both to 80 and switch back and forth
