I am working on Astralaria and am at the point where you need to mine the Meteorite Ore. I got about halfway through when they simply stopped dropping.

I know it’s an RNG thing, but I went hours with upwards of 10 consecutive Ori nodes without a meteorite ore drop.

Is the drop rate of the meteorite ore affected by other drops? As in, if you use the Watchwork Pickaxe, do the sprockets that drop affect the drop rate of the meteorite ore?

Does anyone know? I tried googling it and couldn’t find anything regarding it.

The sprockets don’t effect other gathering materials. They come from the pick itself, not from the node.

“Has a small chance to reward a watchwork sprocket on each swing in addition to mining results.”

As to the other part, probably RNG. I’ve read posts about other materials where people had long dry spells where they got nothing from multiple nodes.

RNG is funny. I finished all the ascended specialization weapons without any trouble, except the one that needed a tiger claw. Despite exterminating tigers on dozens of maps, that one never dropped (while the others needed fewer than a dozen kills).

Jafw is also correct: I’ve tested the wiki’s statement; the sprockets are a bonus drop, not a substitute for anything else.

Just went through this set of collections myself. No, the sprockets don’t displace the meteorite ore. It really is just RNG being RNG.

I went through like 10 or 15 characters to collect my ore. Some characters got no drops, others got 1 or 2, a few others got 1 from every node. Mind you, I just did the same 5 nodes across all of the characters across a couple of days.
