Is there a way to make money from my extra skill points? It looks like the only things I can trade them for are account bound crafting items. Are there things I can craft for a profit using them?

The way to do it is to use it to either upgrade materials to the next tier or make items that use skill points to purchase one of the ingredients and then sell them.

This website tracks the most profitable ways to convert skill points to gold, based on the cost it’d take you to purchase all ingredients Vs. the price you can sell it on. Note that it isn’t failsafe, an item might be listed for sell for a higher price but might take a while to sell.

Note that the material market is in a state of change due to the Festival Chests so, Mystic Forge promotion of materials is not very profitable right now (if at all). If you did a bunch of material BUYs BEFORE the Festival and are SELLING the promoted materials now, you would be rolling in gold.

T1 → T2 refined (not all of them – you’ll have to figure out which one is best when you do it) is usually the best gold/SP (1-4 g/SP)
there are several forge weapons (that use Eldritch Scroll) that aren’t that bad (around 1g/SP)
crafting legendaries gives about 1-3g/SP, but also requires other things, so you can’t claim it all goes to SP profit. But it’s still worth noting.

You can usually get at least .2 gold per skill point from promoting cores to lodestones, but those items are in a state of flux so not all core promotions are profitable all the time.

The advantage to this method is that it is somewhat fast, as you don’t have to do as many individual promotions or buy/sell orders as say promoting 1000s of T1 materials per small amount of skill points, but I’m not sure how many promotions that is exactly.

Edit: it appears to be ten attempts per skill point with kitten promotion, yielding up to .50 gold or so per skill point right now, which doesn’t sound too terrible at all.

If you do many many many attempts the risk is generally bypassed for kitten materials since their output yield is slightly random, whearas for cores to lodes you always get one lodestone, so there is no RNG risk element there, merely whether or not it is profitable.
