Monthly Salvaging Question.

You need to salvage 500 items for the monthly. Hover over the objective in your tracker to see how far you’ve gotten.
I personally like to use the kits Lionguard Lyns sells in Lion’s Arch- they come in stacks of 250 and are relatively easy to get.

excessive? lol

I thought so the first time I saw it, but it’s not too bad. I’m only at 13% and pretty happy with the progress so far. And that’s only doing white, yellow and OJs. If I need to pick up the pace and start doing all the blues and maybe greens, it’ll go quick.
I’m more worried about the dungeons. Too chicken to jump in a gw2lfg group.
In a short month like Feb. is comes out to a bit less than 18 salvages per day. If you salvage white items and salvage items regularly then it’s really easy. If you don’t then it will probably be annoying.
Salvaging is going to be the part that takes longest for me. Far longer than anything else. But I will get it done in four weeks.
Notebene: Don’t be afraid. Write a nice add asking for nice people. It worked very well for me. I got three excellent CoE runs that way.
I’m on 260 something on 4 days.
I salvage all salvage items and 90% of all stuff I find. ^^
The only thing I need to do now is to plan the dungeons with my friends ^^
I’ve done a BUNCH of salvaging the last 3 days, and I’m at 17% completion.
You still have another 25 days, at this pace you should get the achievement with no problem.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.

Doesn’t this require some special tokens to buy the kit? Or can they be bought using just gold?
I have never salvaged an item before nor have I done a dungeon, oh dear.

haven’t checked in with Lionguard Lyns since she’s been back, but you need 25 Commendations (which can be earned by making “donations” to the Mysfic forge. need to see Miyani as well. can see here for details:

well im jsut gonna paly normally salavage waht i normally salvage and a few days before month change in gonna look at it if i dont have it yet, and just buy a bunch of cheap white or blues on TP to salvage for it, if i need that
At first I was salvaging all my cheaper drops then I bought up some trophies and finished off the 500. I’m a bit impatient

You’re in for a treat!
If you have never salvaged an item then you probably also have very little gold, because this game’s economy is based around salvages. Salvaging oftentimes makes you money. Salvage white heavy armor level 70 and above for the chance of Orichalcum and light white armor for the chance of gossamer. Use the basic salvage kit for whites and for salvage items like discarded garments or metal scraps. Medium armor yields leather, so you’re probably better off merching it without salvaging. Salvage low level rares with a master’s or mystic kit for the rune or sigil, salvage high level (level 68 or above) rares with the master/mystic for a chance at ecto. Check exotic pieces for high priced runes or sigils and salvage those with a Black Lion kit or, if the rune/sigil isn’t worth much and you can’t get a good price for the complete item from the TP, salvage with a mystic kit for an even better chance at ecto than the rares give you.
Dungeons are good fun if you have a party of guildies, and you can both guild and join dungeons cross server. If your current guild parties up for dungeons jump in with them. If they don’t consider finding a second guild that does do that — you don’t have to leave your first guild, so you just have the opportunity to add more friends without losing anything you already have. Multi-guilding is great for players who want to do many different things.
Have fun

If you have alts and some gold, craft 1-400 for weapons or armor and salvage them.

I’m way further in all the other monthly things than the salvage one but its early in the month. I need the materials for crafting anyhow.
The gw2LFG.com works great. I was hesitant to try it too, but started using it for fractals last month and dungeons this month. At first I was just whispering people who had posted there but now I’m making my own posts. I needed to complete the Arah dungeon for my story and posted that. We ended up with a full group of great people all wanting to complete it for their story. I was the only one who had been there before. We had a wonderful time.
I was trying to get Gossamer so I was searching up salvage materials on the Trading Post and salvaging 50-100 everytime they went down to a cheap amount. Most of the time I could get a stack of 50 for about 20 silver and since I’m likely to get Gossamer it worked out pretty well.
Buy 500 Basic quality (White) Heavy Armour from the Trading Post for Coppers and 20 stacks of Basic Salvage Kit. Get your monthly achievement and resell all the materials at a profit.
Just playing normally and salvaging everything I get, I finished last night. Now I just have to do a couple of dungeons cause the monthly was WAY too easy for my play-style.
just buy stuff from blt lvl 1 and above, cheapest you can find and salvage that, it will be like 1-2 gold at max, i already completed the monthly
For what it’s worth…
Starting area vendors sell salvageable weapons for 40c. If you’re short a few at the end of the month, you can do it that way. The full track would cost you 2g but by playing the game you should get it for free.
Also, since crafting is a daily anyways, level one of your crafts and salvage everything you make. Easy.

for the crafting daily i say most ppla re just gonna refine 10 mats rather than craft something you can salvage :P
Cooking is great for the daily crafting one. I generally make omnom bars, it’s 4 steps so I usually make two full batches and 2 extras of one ingredient which I save for the next time it’s included in the daily list.

i can do it WAY faster on say jeweler, by refining say 10 gold ore in one go, since each concurrent craft of the same time takes like half the one before it will be like 5-10 times faster than your multiple item stuff
