Most, "Skill-based" class?
Most of the classes seems 1 button to win for me sadly =/, thieves, elementals, and warriors mostly, the rest are a bit harder.
imo i think mesmer might be the most skill based. just my opinion
This isn’t 100% relevant but maybe it’ll expand the topic more. On my warrior who is a weapon smith my weapons are at equal level and augmented both for power. I can do so much more with my bow then with melee weapons. I was fighting monsters 2-3 levels higher then me with a 2 hand sword and dual wielding axes and I was going 1 for 1 with mobs as in going into the “downed” state but finishing them off and not dying. When I used my bow with the same mobs I was able to kite and kill 2-3 at a time with out much difference in fight time. I’ve tried all the classes as well and what I’m getting at is weapon choice per class dramatically plays a difference in my opinion. I think the engineer is up there for their actual skills. Elementalist’s I think would be up there if the player is maximizing their group potential by rotating thru the elements to support/dps/kite-disable.

I’ve not played thieves or warriors much, but if you ever actually decide to use more than one button when you play your elementalist you can do some pretty fun things with ’em.

you are simple bad or very very very slow for think that, i bet with an elementalist you just use fireball
My opinion is Elementalists. If you’re a one-trick pony and only using one attunement, you will not do very well in the long run, you pretty much have to use your different attunements to do well.
Ele’s and Guardians. Guardians seem pretty straightforward, until you see a good one doing all the roles they can possibly do.
The class you already play; the elementalist. Its a really powerful class but to achieve that you need to play very well and it require alot more than pressing a couple of buttons
Ex Boon Control, Red Guard, Black Company, The Blackhand Order
Several pvp and WvW World / Europe various MMO game firsts
Well I use an elementalist as my main character and I use as many elements as I possibly can to gain an advantage in a fight.
I can summon rock golems, lay down shattered rock to cripple then launch meteor shower which causes them to agro and run to me and get crippled in the process while my golems block their path.
Then using ice to slow them down and the use the static cage and then switch to fire again to start dealing the damage. I find the water element useful under water and takes skill to use I think.
But maybe im bias either way its a tough proffesion to master.
Engineer and Elementalist by far have the highest skill-cap. Elementalists are easy to pick up, but probably the hardest to master.
From my personal experience, the mesmer. Solo questing in the world as a mesmer is the most demanding experience I’ve found in the game so far, and I love it.
the less you spec defensively and the more melee you build (i would include dagger ele and necros), the more you need to know the full extent of your skills.

how you use 1 button can vary. chain skills usually have some boon/evade/condition on one or more swings and can be timed (with auto-attack off) to provide that at the right time (gs on ranger for instance has a dodge on the 3rd swing which can be helpful when used at the right time.
if you hadn’t put much time into d/d ele btw, do it. it’s fun as [kittens]. the highest skill cap is definitely not ranger. as a ranger main, i’ll tell you now pets make it way too easy to play straight dps.

Ofc i’m being biased, but i’d say a good guardian can bring down anything aslong as he/she know’s what skills to be used in what situation. it’s can also be one of the most versitile classes (bar the ranged, with only the scepter, you’re kind of screwed) saying that thought the scepter i great for a back up if you plan to tank. mace/shield/scepter will get you alot of defensive buffs and self heals(that are actually decent!).
i’ll do a build/skill loadout in a thread for guardians if anyone is interested, maybe help a few guys out.

Hahahaha. This must be a PvE thing then. In PvP a warrior needs to use absolutely everything on their bar and really know how to use all the skills they have effectively to do well. Unfortunately this game is built 50/50 around pvp and about half the moves are utility abilities that lose their useful component if you are just fighting mobs that stand infront of you the entire time you fight.
If you want the most useful moves as a warrior in PvE then use axes. Eviscerate is a great burst finisher for blowing up one creature fast. Axe throw for pulling new mobs, and a small aoe attack on the 3rd move. With a 2nd axe you can get more offense with a 4th attack that increases your critical hit rate and a 5th whirlwind attack for taking out multimobs. WIth a shield you get a knock down and block for helping draw out a fight going bad while you wait for CDs to come back up or use a horn to pop speed on yourself and get to another kill faster. Warrior has great options and can easily be played with more than one button if you use the right weapon arrangement.
Entry-level complexity of Necromancers and Mesmers is high. Thieves, Engineers, Elementalists and Rangers are somewhere in-between in this regard. Warriors and Guardians are easiest to pick up, but their feedback loop is much more subtle when it comes to maximising their performance in a match, especially when it comes to Warrior.
Based on tournament play alone, Warrior seems to be the profession with highest skill cap and biggest disparity of individual player skill among general populace, which at the low-end of the spectrum might give you the wrong impression of "overplayed, easy profession for noobs".
Thives this guy should prove just how skill based they are.
