A:

Short story: the optimum coin comes from the festival tracks, if you wait to sell the bags. Next best are dungeons.

Big caveat: a lot of the tracks have good or high value, in terms of acquiring other currencies or more importantly, saving you time or avoiding grind. For example, several non-repeatable tracks offer 7 mystic clover, which allows you to avoid RNG forging or acquiring currency to buy obbi. Others help you progress a variety of collections. That is: gold isn’t the only metric for determining “most profitable”.

I just ran an analysis for my guild. Roughly speaking, if your only concern is gold:

  • The festival tracks (Halloween & Wintersday) are best, with the optimum value in saving the bags to sell in 9-11 months.
  • Dungeon tracks are second best, because you get three guaranteed exotic weapons, 1 guaranteed exotic armor, and enough tokens to buy at least one more exotic.
  • The remaining reward tracks have largely the same gold potential.

Clearly, there are a lot of assumptions that go into any analysis. You have to know how to efficiently monetize things like account-bound gear or dungeon tokens and when to sell. I’ll review just the highlights. I’m ignoring things like shards and ToK and veteran/champ drops — those have the same value for the non-festival tracks, which turns out to be little/none relative to the eight ‘superior’ drops, including the final bonus

  • Halloween yields 200 ToTs + a 20-slot pail. I ignore the bag (although it can be worth 10g or more to people who haven’t fully geared up). During Halloween, you can get at least 5s/bag or 10g/track. During the last 3 months, you could have gotten 30g/track or better, depending on when you sold.
  • Wintersday drops 161 gifts directly or 261 if you choose the +100 gift option at the end (recommended). Over the last 10 months, gift prices have ranged from 6 to 12s, so the track is worth 15g/track to 31g/track.
  • For dungeon tracks, I assume salvaging of exotics, with an appropriate stat prefix for the chance of an insignia/inscription. This ends up being around 5-6g/track.
  • As noted above, the other tracks tend to have the same/similar minor+major drops, but the superior drops don’t include guaranteed exotics.
