Today i’ve seen some bunker builds videos…and i’m wondering (regardless of profession) wich is the combo to get the most close to invincibility.

I’m thinking about a insert profession here with full thoughness/healing power/vitality gear, with permanent regeneration and a high uptime of protection.

Right now Engineer,Guardian,Mesmer,Necromancer and Ranger come to my mind:
They all can get a nice uptime of regeneration, most of them can have a nice amount of protection (and retaliation) too.

Engineer: An elixir build, focused on healing
Guardian: passive heals, aegis, passive burn…probably the most efficient class for this role
Mesmer: restorative mantras+harmonious mantras+mantra of recovery+mantra of resolve and mantra of concentration…then phantasmal defender and mass invisibility.
Seems pretty hard to take down to me!
Necromancer: consume conditions as healing skill, spectral armor for protection, spectral wall for more protection, any 3rd utility and elite.
When in trouble activate death shroud and heal again when the shroud is over…
Ranger: Troll unguent gives so much heal…

Anyway,what are your opinions?
Wich is the profession that can tank the most the best? Using wich build?
What i’d like is a build that lets me think “oh,you’re not a glass cannon, then i don’t even care”…i know there is no trinity,so to tanks, but is it possible to achieve something close to it?

In my own experience and of what i have seen i would say the Elementalist and the Gaurdian are those that can tank the best. I have no clue on different Elementalist builds due to how i play a Gaurdian. I am a big fan of World vs World so my build is fully directed to that, which can also be used well in dungeons.

I run a 0, 0, 30, 30,10 with 1, 9, 12 in Valor 1, 2, 9 in honor and 2 in Virtue, which currently i am using great sword, scepter/shield combo. For skills i use shelter (Due to how you receive no damage when healing) , Judges intervention (For longer range classes), save yourselves (Universal skill), contemplation of purity (To deal with most condition builds), and Reaper of Grenth (For when you have to tank multiple enemies and want to lower there cool down rate). The three middle skills are stun breakers, which work wonders against an enemy hammer build, also are able to heal you as well with the trait line shown above.

I use Melandru armor with superior runs of the doylak for regeneration, with regard to the accessories i use 2 sapphire ori earrings, soldier’s spine guard, an emerald orichilcum amulet, and 2 emerald Ori rings.

In all this gives you 2,860 Attack, 15% crit, 3,296 armor, and 17,965 health. As i originally stated this build is mostly for World vs World and is capable to soloing camps head on, and being able to tank while three manning a keep. With regards to kills this build has already helped me get 6,514 kills.

Draw backs to this build are you are not invincible (sadly), very vulnerable against confusion stack Mesmers, Not a lot of damage output. Glass cannon warriors, rangers, and thieves have yet to be able to take me on in a 1v1 and occasionally 1v2. I have not yet lost in a 1v1 to any other classes except the Elementalist and a confusion stack Mesmer.

It is not the best build for a Gaurdian, but it is a build that is decent and works. I hope this was helpful to you. ^^

Thank you for the feedback,a little of time ago i’ve realized a build for the mesmer (thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/What-do-you-think-about-this-bunker-build/first#post1082870)
It deals wonderfully against conditions, ranged attacks and heavy crowd control,it heals quite a lot and the damage is dealt using confusion.
almost 100% uptime regeneration,a nice amount of protection,iDefender for absorbing more damage and mass invisibility if you’re in trouble.
If the enemies ignore your clones, they will spam conditions to them,if they care about clones you’ll be able to recover most of the damage they’ll deal to you in the meantime.
I’ve only tried this in the mists against the profession bots, even without using any phantasm and elite my health couldn’t drop under 50%. It is designed for pvp.

The only thing that’s lacking is a reliable block, however with chaos storm you can get the aegis anyway, while also using your scepter #2 to block.

I personally love my Engi Bunker/Melee Support Build (PvE), yet to try in WvW and I havea different bunker build for pvp.

I run a toughness, power, and healing power. I heal myself and allies with bombs. I can keep myself up without using conventional heals. I have constant regen and bomb heals are surprisingly nice. One note, that sucks, it scales horridly when dropping back down from 80 to a lower level for some reason.

Explosives- 10pts- drop a bomb when evading, 3 Bombs have a larger radius
Firearms- 0pts
Inventions- 30pts- regen for 10 sec when hit under 25% health,1 Protection for 3 secs when hit with crit, all heal skills reset at 25% health(useless because I run medpack)9 supply crate has extra supplies(more med kits and turrets), 11 bombs heal allies(and yourself)
Alchemy- 20pts- elixir b at 75% health(retaliation for 12 secs, plus 3 other boons and it has no cooldown)6 gain protection whenever disabled for 3 secs, 5 sec cooldown, 8% chance of converting conditions into boons, 9 gain regen wen using a kit( u near always have a kit equipped)
Tools- 10pts- I simply put it here for the constant swiftness(if gw2 had templates to save multiple builds I would have a better use for these 10 pts)

I run pistol/shield, bomb kit, g’nade kit, med kit, supply crate and elixir r(recover from stun) You have multiple blinds, knockbacks, cc’s, and a confusion and a daze.

Special Note- the tool belt part of elixir r allows you to self rez yourself if you somehow get downed. You simply throw it at your feet when you think your bout to go down or use it to rez multiple teammates at once.

This is by far my favorite class and I love this build for pve.

:D

Wich is the weapon you use? also, wich utilities do you use? wich runes? and wich sigils?

It looks nice, but conditions may be a very serious problem!
Also chilled and poison will greatly reduce your effectiveness,do you have a counter for that too?

by the way,i’ve tested the mesmer build in two sPvP matches…it rocks so hard O.O

I mentioned the utilities and weapons in the description

I run pistol/shield, bomb kit, g’nade kit, med kit, supply crate and elixir r(recover from stun)

Also the medpack removes conditions every 15 seconds and you have a passive 8% chance to convert conditions into boons.

This is not the easiest class to run, but it works. You have to constantly swap between pistil/shield, bomb kit, nade kit, and med pack.

This is a PvE Build. I run a, semi-close, different build for PvP. And im yet to spend much time in the best aspect of the game, WvW, with this build.

As far as runes and sigils, I run Sapphire Orbs in my armor and Sapphire Jewels in my accessories . I use the major rune of life in my pistol, to stack even more healing power.

This is the closest to a healing class that you can get in this game, you have endless heals and regeneration. Which I incorporate into a Bunker/Melee Support Build.

THE ONLY WAY ANY OF THIS WILL MAKE SINCE IS TO HAVE A LEVEL 80 ENGINEER TO DO THIS ON. Go buy all master work gear with power, toughness, and healing power. It only cost like 30 silver to buy a full set of master armor, accessories, orbs, and jewels with these stats.
