GM of Crew of Misfits (CoM)
Piken Square, EU
I am soon moving from the US to Europe permanently and i was wondering if the Region lock has been lifted. If not, i would appreciate some information on which steps i need to take in order to be able to play the game abroad, with a US copy
Thanks
I don’t think where impacts anything mechanically. I know several people who live in Europe and play on NA servers. You may find that there are fewer people on when you are on though because of timezone differences.
If you want to switch to an EU server you probably just transfer manually and pay the gem fee.
You will be ok with this game but europe uses a different format to the US (ntsc and pal)
So any future discs will need a region change on your player and this is locked to only be used 3 times or so.. So for future discs (expansions etc) you will need to get another drive and have it set to the correct region. thenn its just remembering which are your US discs for games and which are your Euro discs.
You tv will be needed to be changed also yto the new region. most sets have an option for ntsc or pal. same with your dvd or blueray player..
We also have different electrical system and voltages over here so you will need to check that stuff out also. plugs can be different here also.

Thank you for the information. I am from the EU(Cyprus) but have been living in the US. Even though my discs are US region i will be changing to EU as soon as i move.
Nay worrys mate. I spent 4 odd years living in greece myself, never been to US though. Im from UK, which EU country you moving to?

Moving to London
it works like this:
You buy the game in the US/EU zone,
you activate it in the US/EU zone
Once activated it can be played from everywhere

I don’t remember to ever put my GW2 game disk into player. Even if you would bought expansion on disk i can bet you can just write code in account and download all from the net. Hell, you wound probably need to download it anyway because of zero-day patch.
Locked Disc regions r an old concept. There is plenty of software players, patches, hacks etc that can make a DVD/CD player region free/unlimited region change. No need to worry about regions when it comes to DvD’s games or movies.
The one and only thing u need to worry about it time zones. If ur ok with going to bed late then u shouldnt have a probem even then. I personaly live in the UK and usualy stay up till about 2:00AM, which allows me to play during US peak hours if im playing on a US server.
if ur bringing any hardware over then the power leads wil likely requir a adaptor but they aint expensive. NTSC/PAL wise u only needo t owrry about that with old screens, most/all modern screens are universal.

I moved from Canada to Italy around 15 years ago. One of the first things to go after arriving was the PSU on the computer I had then, and this was while using a major transformer. Make sure you have a good quality PSU that auto-detects the current and can auto-switch to 220v. Next to go was the microwave …
Good adapters/transformers are not cheap, are a pain to use, and certainly not a long-term solution. They are also subject to burning out if over-used. I know, cos I went this route …
My advice is to sell as many electrical/electronic devices as possible before moving over, and replace when you arrive. This might seem expensive, but worth it in the long run.
