I just joined a squad for the Meta in AB. During the map swapping afterwards i got kicked and although i sent a friendly question as to why i was kicked i got the answer: lobbyt.
So when i asked for a further explanation i never got a clear answer and i decided to ask here so maybe someone can shine a light on it. I dont want to make the same mistake next time, if i made a mistake at all.

So this is what i did after the fight:

1) announced that my map was done and went to loot my map.
2) swap to lobby, try to join next map and when succeed (sometimes the other map is full and i will try the next one up), and moved my icon to the map i went to.
3) repeat step 2 until i did all maps, prioritizing the maps that needed care.
4) announce i was almost done and volunteer to hold a map.
5) got kicked

What was wrong? I hope anyone can tell me. I never stay in lobby for any longer than needed to load the new map and drag the icon.

You don’t really need to move your character from the current group to lobby (usually group 1) in order to switch to another. Just be sure to join the world for the group you’re going to, then move your position into that group direct. Some people may be keeping an eye on overall time until the reset, and usually 2 minutes until reset is “last call” in most cases.

And that can get you kicked since people trying to join your old map on you will get into wrong map if you dont go to lobby.

You DO need to move it to lobby if you’re planning to switch maps, lol. If no one does that, then it makes no sense anymore, because you would not be able to see on what map people are (unless it’s the same map as you). If everyone does this, then it’s gonna be chaos and you are going to lose a lot of maps because everyone will be just jumping back and forth.

The proper way to do it is:

1) loot your own map
2) check how many people are still on your map; more than 2 —> proceed to step 3; only you —> announce in squad chat and wait til someone else joins your map
3) move yourself to lobby
4) pick a map and try to join it (might be full sometimes)
5) only after you joined new map SUCCESSFULLY, move yourself to that group; loot the current map
6) repeat step 2 and so forth

It’s also possible that the OP got kicked by mistake. I’m sure we’ve all experienced moving the cursor to the icon we want to /kick or /whisper, right-clicking, only to find that the names moved around just as we did that.

Darn, wish Anet would hurry up and implement the nerf/fix that they are working on and just end the AB multi.

I myself had run multimap a few times and to be bluntly honest Anet would need to empower rewards on the notable chests if they want to abolish it. I haven’t really done MM AB since, but I’ll throw a quote since explanation can be argued:

“Can only eat certain food enough times until you get sick of it”

translation: it’s too much cheese and I’m not satisfied, and moving on.
