One of my characters faces is completely blacked out both in game and on the character selection screen, it looks like hes been painted!! Have I somehow done something to this character to do this?

This may seem like a dumb question, but is the character a Mesmer?
And if so, did you chose black as the color for the mask?

No its an engineer and it has only recently changed to being black, was normal before a couple of days ago, and its an asura his ears stick out and are coloured normally

Report it as a bug in game or in the bug forum. I have a pair of pants that has the glove icon (luckily they still look like pants when I wear them!). The icon stayed when I transmuted the look onto a new item. There’s definitely some graphics glitches in the game.

My asura Ele is having the same problem, but with an orange-ish face. It seems to be a bug, don’t worry too much about it.

its possibly a corrupt texture within your client, might be worth removing the client and reinstalling if you have the media, or a suitably fast connection (to make it relatively painless)
Unsure if there’s a means to get the client to check/replace the cache files for you, but i’m sure staffers will be able to point one out if you raise a ticket with them.

I have the same problem, my guess is its a graphic cards issue, maybe I have to update my drivers or something. I am using a laptop gaming graphics card so it could also be a performance issue.

I created an asura last night and noticed that one hair option (the wird cornrow into buns thing) made my face a shade similar to hair color. I created the character and confirmed that other people could see my face was black. I also saw other newly-created asura messing around with this bug (saw a few with pink faces)
NOT a graphics card problem or anything, it must be on Anets side so don’t worry; it’ll probably go away soon.
