Guild Wars 2

I am generally not a MF user but I thought I would give it a quick go. I have been saving up Rares since they announced they were going to make a change in the drop rate of the MF so come the 15th I plan on tossing some Rares in there.

I am shooting for The Legend. Now I understand the average of L75 or above on the 4 staves. I also get that if you throw 4 staves in your get a staff back out. What I am not clear on is:
I saw some MF recipes that if you throw 3 of the same (item “A”) in along with the one item that you want(item “B”), that you get that(item “B”) back.

So my question, does that apply when fishing for a Pre?
If I throw 3 L80 hammers in and 1 L60 Staff giving an average of L75, might I get The Legend or atleast a guaranteed Staff out?

Does not matter what you mix (if you mix) you will get any type of weapon back out. You will always get staffs if you put in 4 staffs, but if you put in 3 hammers and 1 staff you could very well get a pistol.

Edit: at rare level you can also put in armour or accessories and get out a weapon as long as you mix in one weapon in the group. At exotic level you can only put in the same type ie weapon or armour or accesssories together.
