Mystic Forge Questions
Hi hahawinner
I am not sure about the first few questions so I will leave someone else to answer those, but your fourth question: yes they work the same way 4 greens will make another random green with a chance to proc to yellow (same applies for blue to green also). FYI the same applies for dyes
hope that helps

Thanks for answering that 4th question; Do you know if 4 yellow sigils would have a chance to proc to exotic? And about what you said about dyes, what happens if you try putting 4 unidentified dyes in the forge?
haven’t personally tried 4 yellows, so wouldnt like to guess.
unidentified dyes cannot be used as far as i am aware only opened ones (I do this a lot), i will double check once i have some more though
1) chance for exotic (20%?)
2) not legendary, but people do this to obtain precursor (specific exotic)
3) .. t6 items? If you meanto define t6 by crafting (exotic lv 80ies) then best option is to use 3x rare 80+1x mystic forge stone (beware rng). If you mean t6 crafting materials, ones that require crafting level 400, then you can upgrade t5 materials. wiki has recipie ^^ Ectoplasma however is gained from salvaging high level rare and exotic items(68+). I recommend master or mystic salvage kit for bulk, and bltc salvage kit if you happen to have them prior salvaging.
4) Upgrading sigils and runes works same way; chance for same or higher tier result but not tied to specific rune (ie, varmpirism, dolyak, etc)
Edit I’d also salvage white items, always, with crude salvage kit and sell/store mats. IIRC majority of 75+ blue/white are better to be salvaged for chance at t6 basic materials (gossamer, orichalcum) but I’m not yet sure if one should use fine or basic toolkits for that.
(“rarer materials”)
Outsource rng → profit.

1)If that 20% is the actual chance, iunno if I’d want to risk that…unless I get a crapload of yellows one day.
2)Do these have to be certain exotics to get the precursor exotic or is it just a random exotic(that has a chance to be a precursor)?
3)Now I’ll pay a bit more attention to what I’m salvaging; When you use a salvage kit and get an Ectoplasma, is it usually just one or a couple?
4)Gotcha, thanks.
@Edit: Wasn’t aware that 75+ whites would be able to give me T6 basic mats so I’ll keep that in mind.
