I just started playing again and I have some names I would like. But they are taken on my current world

If I change world can I try the names there or is there only allowed to be one of that name over all the worlds because of WvW?

I am only level 28 but if I delete all my characters I can transfer for free?

and will I get all my beta and digital deluxe stuff on the new world and access to my gems I bought?

Character names are global, even between NA and EU. You can use odd accents or add a title or alter the spelling to get around that but cannot have the exact same name as any other player’s character.

I hear tell that you can indeed transfer for free if you delete them all, but should make sure to put any non-soulbound items you want to keep in your bank as that carries over with the account. Soulbound things can be salvaged for mats to save.

Gems are on your account, they should stick with you until spent. Likewise anything you get each time you create a character should continue to work, but already soulbound items will poof with the deletions. Make very sure anything unique like a mini Rytlock is in the bank. Also if you have special armor like Primeval, transmute it onto low level white items to put in the bank because if you leave it soulbound, no other alt will ever be able to pick it up.

Yep, names have to be completely unique across all servers. So if it’s taken now it will be taken on any server you transfer too as well. The only way you could get it is if the person using it deleted the character or changes their name.

But you could try changing the spelling slightly, or add a last name, title or nickname. Or if you know how to do it (I don’t) add an accent.

I never had a problem with character names I want being in use.

Before making a new toon, I go to webs sites listing names or that have name generators. For example, if creating a norn, I check out Scandinavian name sites. For sylvari, there are elven name sites, etc.

Furthermore, to keep things consistent and so guildies know which toons are mine, I use the first 3 letters in my user name for all my toons.

So, in your case, try using ‘Kit____’ . This will individualise your toon much more than trying to use some variation of a popular name.

EDIT: Only issue I have had using a Scandinavian name for my norn is getting whispers in Norwegian …

As Donari pointed out, names are universal so long they aren’t taken. And yes if you delete all the characters then you can transfer for free. If you don’t want to, then the fee is 1800 gems. Anything that is account bound will be with you regardless, it’s anything that is soul bound that will be a problem. Place them in the bank.
