Guild Wars 2

Hey guys. I haven’t played GW2 in about 2 years. Recently I was watching some videos, and reading, a compulsion to install and give it a final try hit me. I played a guardian, leveling an engineer to 40 and quite soon after. Mind you in the first 2 weeks I clocked over 300 hours, and I got the full explorer in like less than a week, but the WVW, poor dungeon design and skills made me eventually quit. What I did love, is the design and epic feel of the world. And to this day, it was the best leveling experience I have had in any MMO. I think now the level cap has raised? I am not sure, I think it was 60 before.

Anyway, a lot has changed. If someone could give me a quick concise run down on what I should be looking to do, that would be great. Trying to catch up on 2 years is going to take a while. Would the gear I have still be decent? I know ascendance gear is out, but I had the tier below though way back. I leveled a few profs to max, and I think I had about 20g.

Some other questions: I didn’t like that I picked a female human guardian in the end, and made my engineer a big norn, is there an option now to “race change”? Also, in your honest opinion has this game improved enough to make it worth while? I know I have nothing to lose since it’s free, but it is a massive download. Is leveling faster or about the same still? I was thinking of changing up maybe to a thief, I’ve always liked classes with stealth, but I loved guardians from GW1. I am assuming thieves can still perma stealth.

Lets start with the easy. There is no race change or class change. Everything else can be changed.

The game is worth while if you have fun. So I really would not take anyone else’s word on that part, for they may not care about the same things as you do at all. I have never left.

Your gear is just fine. Ascended is only a little better and is only needed at the very highest levels of Fractals of the Mists dungeon thingy. This is because it has a slot of agony resistance.

300 hours in a couple of weeks is far too much for anything to remain fun. I think you might love taking another turn around the world at a more leisurely pace? Dungeons had some changes a while back. I am not an expert on those but see the patch notes.

The new leveling thing has gotten a lot of flack from some players. Only a small part is deserved, a lot was misunderstood. The main point: Only a few things are actually level locked. If you know about it, you can mostly do it even before getting the introduction.

The only way to know if you have fun is to try it. It doesn’t cost very much, just some downloading time.

Well it’s downloading. Doesn’t seem I have to do much for gear, but I can’t handle being a female human so I’ll relevel a thief or continue my giant engineer. Thanks for the response. I definitely won’t be playing that much, it’s just I was so excited for GW2 after GW1, I basically took a holiday to play it 20/24.

Anything else I should be aware off?

Ranger for me is also Fun level 65 on it…. Plus I have a level 17 Elementalist. I am just learning the game some now so trying different things out.
