Guild Wars 2

I just bought this game and am a complete newbie. I plan on doing mostly PvE and some World vs World, so I was wondering before I select my permanent server: Which server is better for World vs World and PvE, Fort Aspenwood or Sanctum of Rall?

I can’t speak for Aspenwood, but Sanctum of Rall is big in the WvW scene.

Do you know anything about the community of Sanctum of Rall?

The community itself is fine. You don’t have a lot of elitists, but they are still capable of doing content just fine. You don’t gt too many trolls or fights in LA, and for the most part the people there are quite helpful and understanding.

Though with the new champ farms that has been muddied a bit. Though I suspect that a lot of that has to deal with people guesting on the server to farm.

Alright, cool! That’s helpful to know. I just bought the game and have had some pretty bad experiences with being new to other MMOs.

I’m in Rall and it used to be one of the highest quality servers, but now it has gotten pretty bad in the higher end content. I think many of the trolls from other servers have transferred over, because like I said it was never this bad. Take that for what you will. There are still plenty of helpful people though so if you get used to typing /block, you should do just fine. I played on Aspenwood a while back and while it wasn’t troll-heavy, good help for beginners was hard to come by. If you weren’t doing the content they were currently working on, you were pretty much on your own. The people were overall pleasant though, just not very helpful.

Sanctum of Rall, Blackgate, Jade Quarry and Tarnished Coast I believe are the top NA WvW servers. Tarnished Coast is the unofficial roleplay server in the US too if that’s your thing.
