Need Some Pro Info
Server only matters for WvW. You can temporarily “guest” to any other server for free for anything PVE related.
No wait time to log into servers. Occasionally you’ll experience queues for WvW, but those only happen on high pop servers on reset night.
Necro is pretty lackluster in PVE. All the other professions can bring what a necro can, but better. Thats not to say you can’t bring a necro into a dungeon, but itll underperform compared to another class. Necros in pvp on the other hand are very strong in pvp and WvW right now. Their condi build (DoTs) is receiving a pretty huge nerf next balance patch, but their MM petting zoo spec is very easy to play and one of the most OP 1v1 spec.
Warrior on the other hand is great for PVE and pvp. At launch, they were absolutely horrible for pvp, but a couple months ago they received a lot of buffs to sustain and condi clearing. Most people think they are the most OP profession in the game, but any good player can melt the highly telegraphed warrior.
I also main warrior, and can help with further questions in that regard. One more thing. Since you said you already gave this game a shot, a little advice. Dont go into this game thinking its just like WoW. Youll have a really bad time.
I strongly suggest giving this

higher population servers = more lag.
Certain world events will require waiting to play in on higher pop. servers.(be it your home server or not. Just look at all the overflow threads)
The only major differance between servers, is NA region can’t guest in EU, and vice-versa, but any EU can guest to any other EU .(limited to 2 servers per day).
Other than that, you might want to choose your server, based on role playing, or hardcare/casual., general player attitude.
For Necro, just use the search function, there’s alot about necromancer, and they seem to fair quite well, with various builds.
Any class, is worth playing if you enjoy it. It doesn’t really matter which class you pick in this game, once you understand how to set it up. (and of course what you enjoy to play most)
You bring anything that you placed in your personal bank and your wallet. That is all.
OK a few more questions, by the way the answers already given were above and beyond my expectations, especially with how fast the responses were! In regards to those links, there is definitely some things in there I don’t know, but for the most part it is a review. Anyhow:
- When you say the wallet and the personal bank, does that include my crafting item storage?
- Is it a bad idea to reroll Blackgate? How bad is the lag?
- You mention that Necromancers are weak in PvE… Is this a reference to group play? How are they in soloing groups of monsters or soloing veterans?
- How are Warriors at soloing groups of monsters or soloing veterans?
- Do Warriors have difficulty in the game based on the fact that there are too many other Warriors?
- What classes are Warriors the strongest and weakest against? How about Necros?
As you can tell, I am leaning towards playing Warrior on Blackgate. Is this a good choice based on everything I’ve said about my intentions with the game?
I’ll just answer your questions quickly:
1. Yes, anything held in the account vault and wallet will go with you regardless of server.
2. Don’t leave Blackgate. If you regret your decision, it’ll be very difficult to get back in (and it’ll cost you 1800 gems if you have any characters).
3. Group play wise, necros don’t fare as well as other classes because they bring very little support to the team. They can however hold their own with ease in any solo situation, and even if outnumbered they can easily withstand several hits.
4 and 5. Warriors are practically ArenaNet’s pet class, so you won’t go wrong with one. They can easily take on groups and veterans (or even both at once), but anything champion and up and you’ll have to begin playing off your own skill (though this is the case for the other classes too)
6. I can’t say for PvP, I don’t do it.
So if you want to play a warrior, go ahead! There’s no barrier to entry at all.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Lindbur I didn’t say I was going to leave Blackgate, I am currently on Sea of Sorrows and Blackgate is where I would like to start over. My questions regarding Blackgate is because it seems like the best server but I am afraid of things such as lag, gold seller spam ruining chat, queue times, etc…
Can someone provide me with a Warrior leveling build?
Sorry, I misread your post, in that case you probably shouldn’t move if you already have characters. You can move for free if you have no characters, but otherwise you’ll have to pay. As for your worries, you’ll take longer to load into LA because of the player density, but queue times only really apply to WvW and gold sellers can reach you on any server so long as they have your account name.

Id reroll onto a lower pop server. Server doesn’t matter for anything PVE. But in WvW the high pop servers are just one giant Zerg ball, making it very hard and annoying for solo players. But if completing face rolling things with an 80 man Zerg is your thing, go for it.

Let me ask a few questions before giving you a leveling build. Do you prefer DoTs or straight power? Glass cannon or absolute tank? These are important to help you.
Okay I will stay on Sea of Sorrows. My play time will likely be midnight til 5am EST due to a weird work shift, so perhaps being on the unofficial “Oceanic” server isn’t such a bad thing. I would say I lean slightly towards direct damage, but DoTs could work too, I have no clear preference there. I notice though that melee damage automatically cleaves in this game, so DoTs could feel like a disadvantage unless they are easily spreadable. In terms of survivability, I would prefer to be balanced, in such a way that I am not easy to kill, but my damage is decent. I definitely do not enjoy playing glass cannons.
Power build
Condi build
Both are extremely tanky and also do extremely high damage. Practice dodging, interrupting, and blinding rather than straight up tanking hits. This will be extremely important for you to know at least a little once you get into pvp. If you level with one of these youll also hopefully pick up a few good tricks to use once you hit 80 for pvp.

What order should I put talent points in as I level for the first build? What is the rotation? What stats should I look for on my gear? Your help has been priceless.
From 10-20 put 10 in arms for Deep Strikes. (I know thats not in the current build, but you’ll be able to retrain. ) from 20-30 put 10 in discipline for Warriors sprint (also at 30 youll get your signet elite, pretty much use this off CD for the awesome boons.) 30-40 doesn’t really matter if youre having trouble staying alive 10 in defense for dogged march or cull the weak. At 40 youll get a new trait book to unlock the next tier and itll automatically reset your traits. Put 20 into defense for dogged march/cull the weak and merciless hammer. From there put 10 in discipline for warriors sprint/signet mastery. 40-50 put in arms for Deep Strikes again. 50-60 also doesn’t really matter, put them wherever. At 60 youll buy your final trait book, also resetting your traits again. Put 30 into defense for dogged march/cull the weak, merciless hammer, and cleansing ire. Put your remaining 20 in discipline for signet mastery and destruction of the empowered. 60-70 put 10 more in discipline for burst mastery, and 70-80 put 10 in tactics for leg specialist.
PVE doesn’t really need a rotation since mobs just kinda stand there but there are multiple different combos for Pvp that you can practice on mobs. For example a good counterattack combo is hammer#4, hammer #3(immobilize with traits) and then hammer burst skill(f1). The f1 is normally very telegraphed and easy to dodge, but you can’t dodge while immobilized
. Their also now stunned for 2 sec, so use hammer #2 to weaken them and follow with a hammer #5. This will knock them down for 2 sec, and quickly swap to GS and use the #2 which is normally impossible to land in pvp since it roots you for the duration, but against a stunned or knocked down foe they won’t be able to fight it. Most players will also be dead by now unless they use a stun break or block so pop your dolyak signet so you won’t be interrupted stomping them.
Gear for level 80 is in the link, but for 1-26 just use straight power gear. (Anything with the prefix mighty). From 26-65 use power/prec gear (strong) and from 65-80 use the gear in the link. (Just use greens the whole time until 80)

I just wanted to ask, what build should I run on my warrior for sPvP? Or was that build given to me intended to be for all game modes?
