Guild Wars 2

Yep just like that title says. Ive been playing since launch but I dont WVW as much as id like too. I have all classes at 80, and ive mostly done wvw as ele and thief. Mesmer was my main but since april 15th I havent used him.

im open to all builds/ideas and whats popular and not popular. Also, ive never tried warrior or guardian in wvw.

Your first step would be to try warr and guard in wvw. Then you need to decide what you like to do. Run with zerg or roam and kill idiots who are alone.

Warrior, easy and op.

Zerg? Guild group? Small scale? Solo roamer?

Warrior is easy to learn, Guardians are not so easy to learn – I often see Guardians drop quite early in a clash since they’re not quick enough with getting their defense up.

Look for a tanky Hammer-and-shout warrior build and have fun.
If you’re not into Warrior business:
I’d say, if you’re not solo roaming, try an AoE necro (can be done even as a frontliner). You’ll tag everything and their dog, but to survive you have to rely on others. Can be very interesting to master.

For easy mode, pick a warrior.

For zerging, Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist, or Necromancer

For roaming, a condition spec, usually a theif, mesmer, engineer, or necro.

For being viewed as an easy target, a Ranger.

Which tier server are you playing on?

Are you planning to solo roam? The tier server you are on can make a difference, especially depending on what time you play.

Whichever class you choose, pick something that has stealth / speed and can get away quickly. (A well played Mesmer is often hard for a lot of other professions to handle, and Warriors and Thiefs are extra zippy. )

For specs, try asking this same question on the WvW board.

Roaming? Anything that covers ground relatively quickly and is mobile while they fight does this well. I recommend engineer, thief and kind of necro.

Thieves are the king in roaming atm
Warriors/guards are always welcome in a train. (Easyer to learn the way of the warrior)

hi op,

the wvw zerg meta is guardians, warriors, ele’s and necro’s. i would strongly recommend using one of those classes even if you dont initially plan on running with a zerg (sooner or later you will, even if you are a roamer).

personally id recommend a necro but im biased. if i wasnt however id probably recommend a guard or a warrior. both have quite a few builds for all aspects of wvw.
