Guild Wars 2

I hit level 80 on my Guardian yesterday and now want to start working at getting some sweet armor. This is my first maxed level character on any MMO so I am kind of lost. I looked on the internet but didn’t see what I was looking for. I am sure there is a website that shows what different armors look like and how to get each piece. Can someone point me to a source of info.

You can usually find standard and crafted armors up on the trading post. Cultural armors are only available to the specific race, and order armors are only available to the order you chose with your character. Karma armors are often sold by vendors across the world, you’ll need wiki to help you with that. Dungeon armors need dungeon tokens in exchange which can be traded in LA.

There’s a couple different options. Mainly: 1) Crafting 2) karma 3) dungeons 4) WvW

My personal preference is to do dungeons. They are vendors in the southpart of LA. You’ll see 8-9 vendors all in a row on the map, you can go there, preview the armor and find the stats you want (each dungeon has 3 different sets for each armor type). Then when you find what you want you farm that dungeon.

Awesome thanks. I like the armor for the order I chose – do I get that by just going through the quests? Another question – what is the difference between the different tiers of armor? I guess what I am asking is, what is a tier?

You can buy order armors at their HQ once you’re accepted into the order(crusader, agent, explorer). Vendors could be found just along with other vendors in Priory, far west of Vigil Keep, and in front of a tent deep inside Chantry of Secrets.

Equipment tiers decide their stat level, which starts at standard (white), fine (blue), masterwork (green), rare (gold), exotic (orange), and ascended (pink). It’s efficient to wear fine and masterwork while leveling, but most people prefer having exotic after they reach 80.

You want to be trying to get Exotics. There are many ways of getting those. Probably the easiest is farming for gold an then buying the crafted ones off the TP. Otherwise, you can craft them yourself, with 400 crafting, or do dungeons and get them with Dungeon tokens, or try to get one of the Orr Temple vendors open and buy them with Karma.

Just hit 80 myself too and am working my way towards Exotics.

Just hit 80 myself and had these same questions. I knew there would be some sort of grind for gear, but I just wanted to make sure I was heading in the right direction. Great thread and thanks for the link above Lexy.

Each dungeon has it’s own type of token. For example, AC has Ascalonian Tear.
