So I’ve been bouncing from profession to profession and so far I’ve really liked warrior elementalist and mesmer. But it’s hard for me to pick just one. I probably will only do PVE and WVW when I hit 80 since I’ve never been much of a pvper. I don’t mind being a bit squishy as long as I’m not dying every 10 secs. I want something that can actually contribute to a dungeon run or fractal and not just sit there doing poor dps and barely helping.

Each of those classes fit your criteria when played right.

Warrior: has group damage buffs and high raw DPS, as well as high base armor and health. They are the simplest of the three and mesh well with PUGs.

Elementalist: when built for it, can buff groups with massive amounts of might and fury while outdamaging warriors. However, they are hardest to play, very squishy, and fare best in organized, coordinated groups rather than PUGs. You can also opt for more balanced ele builds that do less damage but offer a wider variety of boons to share, higher survivability, and (with a focus) projectile blocking.

Mesmer: The least DPS-heavy of the three, but offers multiple support options that the other two do not- namely, reflects, portalling, Time Warp, and boon-stripping.

Dunno why people keep going on about ‘mains’ and ‘alts’.

I’ve levelled 4 to 80 so far Ele. Mes. Guard and Thief. I enjoyed each one at the time – don’t ask me pick one.

Go Mesmer, well liked class, with a taste of some class’s in each weapon set
