So I’ve managed to complete three of the Laurel-bearing dailies since release, and all those didn’t have the Daily Dodger bit.

How the heck is a RANGER supposed to get this? We have pets, we’re not suposed to be hit.

I’ve tried mashing the ‘V’ key and had a grand total of ONE score to this in Lord knows how many fights. Even when I put my pet away I still never dodge.

I don’t see myself ever getting a laurel from dailies because of this part to it. What can I do, the RNG seems against me and never seems to ‘score’ a dodge.

If you’re lvl80 then one easy way is to go fight young karkas. They start off with a multiple projectile attack and if you dodge towards the karka you should get multiple dodges in one go. Another way for rangers is, IIRC, to use a greatsword and just auto attack since the chain contains an evade which should also count. Going with a pet that isn’t likely to draw agro, e.g. devourer is better than bear, is also a good idea.

This technique is likely to be expanded to any continuous attack, no need to be 80 for that. For example, the worms spitting fire can be used if you dodge right through the flame when doing it.

This is what I do. I find that continuous attacks are easy to dodge and get it to register as an actual evade. Not only will it register one dodge, but because it hits multiple times you are more likely to get 2-3 evades from one dodge. Also works wonders with AOE or big mobs. Run into a mob and just dodge in, you should get some easy.

If you are high enough level to work with the worms that throw the rocks, I find this an extremely easy way to get it, after looking around and testing.

You see the wind up coming, tilt your camera so you can see it’s mouth. As soon as the rock is in the air coming at you, dodge. You can sit there with one worm at a distance until you get your count then finish him off.

If you can’t find a worm, I found the bears to be pretty good too. They rear up before they maul you, and it’s not too hard to get the timing down.

Other than that, big events like the pre-events for ‘Claw’ work really well, especially the last crystal where you have a ‘lot’ of mobs throwing out area attacks and you are constantly having to get out of the way. I’ve gotten the whole thing done just doing the pre-events and Claw (there are also little area effects before the ice spikes form that you can dodge out of in the last step).

But the worms are my new favorite, especially since my favorite character is parked and loiters in Frostgorge.

Edit: Just remember there are baby worms in the 1-15 Wayfarer area. I’m not sure if they have the kind that throw the rocks, or if you can get one isolated to dodge without having to avoid adds, but I remember seeing them there.

I did mine on a ranger pretty much by accident. The 3rd shotbow skill and the 2nd and 3rd sword skills all include evades (I think the sword default chain does as well) and any time you use those and actually dodge an attack it counts towards the achievement.

If you’re wanting to grind it rather than doing it over the course of normal play it might also help to set your pet to avoid combat. I think it makes them less likely to be targeted.

I usually do dailies on my ranger in Gendarran Fields, and have no problem with the dodge …

Go to any location that has spiders, run around to aggro 2 or 3 so they are in a group, then dodge roll through them a few times. If timed right you should get 2 or 3 evades with 1 roll. If you don’t like spiders, do the same with wolves.

For an easier time aggro one or 2 of the many freshwater crabs. They move more slowly and quite obvious when they are going to attack, and do not hit very hard if you miss the dodge …

Well warrior have only 2 evades and that’s all,

But ranger not only have trait 50% increased endurance regen(so evade recharge faster), but even on shortbow have evade skill.

Now ranger with sword/dagger can have around 4 different evade skills not counting the 2 from endurance(“v”)

An easy way is to find a Wyrm. Stand in front of, don’t attack. Watch it and dodge at the moment you see the rock (other projectile). If it hit, you are a bit too close or need to go slightly faster.

Ranger is the easiest profession to complete the daily dodge. Equip a greatsword. The third skill in the autoattack chain has an evade built into it. Put pet on passive. Go to a low-level zone and bash on mobs with autoattack for about 10-20 min. Or you can use the greatsword for regular play (not the best DPS, but it’s still decent and it’s a lot of fun).

I usually finish it just killing trash with a greatsword while waiting for Tequatl or Shatterer.

you can also go to world vs world. Find a large amount of enemies. Put on stability, condition removals, and if possible immortality. Get a good run up and then dodge roll through the zerg twice.

With luck a large portion of them will have shot or sliced at you, but missed, giving you plenty of dodge credit.

Bonus points for getting away and living.
Extra bonus points for luring the zerg off their warpath to chase you.

Use the worms that toss boulders at you. Once you have their attention, you can sit there at your leisure, dodging their attacks with very little effort. Takes a couple of minutes tops. Did this with the champion worm in Diessa Plateau as well. Might also give you a bit of dodge training so you have a bit more success with it in the future,

Find hostile Hylek Camp in Caledon Forest
Aggro a single Hylek, but stay in range of it’s Dart Gun attack
Dodge/evade side to side. if lv80, you should out heal the poison effect, or have enough HP to surive while waiting for stamina to regen.
Repeat as necessary.

i used my guardian against the hylek, so i can out-heal the poison at low levels.

Your best bet here is to do things that force you the dodge. The worms are a good option. Could also go hunt the giant in Diessa Plateau. Or better yet, go fight Kholer in the Ascalonian Catacombs.

Both giants and Kholer are great for dodge training. You either get it right, or you die rather quickly.

+1 – I have completed every daily dodge except one with my ranger and a great sword since implementation. The other was a thief evading with Death Blossom. There is no need to “dodge” or press V. Simply get in a fight and watch the beautiful animations with 2 and 3, auto attack will do the rest for you. Daily Dodger will happen well before you know it and you might even find you like the way the great sword plays.

Rangers can stow pets, but they auto-appear once any combat is initiated …

EDIT: Yes, every ranger should have, and know how to use the greatsword. I was shocked the other week while doing AC p1 and a lvl 80 ranger in the party did not have a GS for the burrows. This was very sad …

I’ve not had a problem with the daily dodger with my Ranger. My pet only holds aggro half the time anyway so quite often the mobs are aiming at me. I dodge at the appropriate time and proc an evade.

Also as noted above, there are some mobs like the adult wurms in Frostgorge Sound where setting up the evade scenario is fairly simple.

It can get trickier for a Ranger, but there’s a few ways you can still complete the Dodger Daily quite easily:

1. Look for some Wurms. Larger wurms that spit rocks at you are ideal, but other wurms can still work. Stow your pet and then aggro the wurms. If it’s a rock spitter, simply wait till the wurm launches the rock then dodge away. You’ll get 1 point for this each time, and since you’re never hit, the pet never comes out. If it’s a burrowing wurm, do the same thing, but wait until the wurm burrows up to you before dodging away. You can get multiple points at a time if you aggro multiple wurms at once and then dodge away from them all.

2. Look for Earth Elementals that are at least level 10+. These always open combat with Unsteady Ground. You get 2 – 3 points whenever you dodge through one, so wait until it casts it, dodge forward through it, then dodge backwards again. You can then kill the Elemental and head to the next one to repeat.

3. Look for Ice/River/Fire Drakes. These guys have a breath weapon with an obvious charge up animation. Wait till it start to use it, then dodge backwards before it breathes. This will grant you 2 – 3 points each. They also have a Tail Swipe attack that is easily predicted.

4. Look for Hylek that are at least level 10+ and fight them underwater. They use a stationary spinning spear attack (usually as their opening attack) that again grants you 2 – 3 points for dodging through it.

I play a ranger too. Whenever dodging is part of the dailies i equip my greatsword in stead of my shortbow, until the dodging daily is finished. This takes about 20 minutes of normal gameplay.

I don’t go go to a low-level zone for it. I can’t put my pet on passive, because to accomplish that i would have to push F3 all the time. I don’t attack specific mobs either.

I just start attacking the normal mobs i would have attacked anyway. Avoiding to much use of anything, but the autoattack. I don’t know which mobs give me ‘dodges’ this way. Maybe it’s some types of mobs, maybe it’s when i’ve aggroed several mobs togheter, … All i know is that dodging is done quickly this way.

Just be carefull not to attack veterans or huge amounts of mobs with your greatsword. A ranger is to squichy for that. Besides, its not necessary for the dodging daily.

Maybe I missed it (probably since I kind of skimmed), but I didn’t see anyone mention that you don’t have to use a dodge skill to get daily dodger, but your double-tap to evade works, as well.

I have difficulty timing it well, but I have found that drakes and AoE’s work well to dodge. They have long cast times. The drakes spew fire or poison or whatever, and it lasts awhile. Sometimes can get two evades from one.

Not one of my favorite dailies. Will be nice if we really get to choose our own.

double tap evade is referred to as the V evade, mainly because most/many people turn off double tap to evade after falling to there deaths in jumping puzzles and such.

As for ways of getting daily dodger, one of the ways I’ve been doing it is to head to a teqatl event (granted limited time frame players may not have this luxury) wait till he “drops something from his wings” and then just keep rolling back and forth through the gunk clouds (avoid explodey risen patches though, if you land in one they hurt bad)

I go to a place in Gendarron where there’s a trebuchet that consistently will shoot at you. Stand there, and when the circle pops up around you, count how long it takes to be hit by the stone. Then every time the circle pops, dodge just before that time. You’ll get it every single time if you’re paying attention and counting.

This is by far one of the easiest daily fir any class. If you’re in Orr, go fight Earth Elementals, they will use their rock spell. Dodge across the line and get 2-4 per dodge (x2 before it ends). If in Orr, use the purifiers (the Risen with the breath skill and D/D attacks), up close and personal with the breath, dodge backwards along it, then back up before it ends. Then their dagger attacks is easy to evade and can get 2-3 if dodged across 3 of them.

If in Frostgorge, Ice Wurms. Im recommending level 80 zones since you have to gather anyways, so gathering high level materials is more effective.
