Need help with deciding between 2 mice.
I have a Naga, and a friend has the Naga Epic.
Unless you NEED a wireless mouse, I would highly recommend the regular Naga (at a significant cost savings over the Epic, to boot)
How’s the mapping software for these mice, specifically related to gw2?
My Logitech G500 is 3 years old and I have abused it ridiculously, yet it is still going strong. So I say Logitech, whatever the latest and greatest is version is.
Better yet, go to your local all purpose computer shop and ask to demo their collection of mechanical rodents and see which one is most comfortable for you.

The OP asked about 2 mice, both made by Razer. Since the software is the same for the Naga & Naga Epic, I would assume the Mamba would also use the same software.
I was able to make do mostly with the Naga’s default settings. Mapped 3 keys differently, (one for weapon swap, the other two for f1-f4 (I use a modifier key to get to f3&f4)) and was good to go.
The naga also seems to save those keybindings, as I took my mouse to a friend’s and was able to play normally, despite not having the razer software installed on the foreign machine.
EDIT: Punctuation
I avoid razer, they often have software (firmware) issues. I typically only use Logitech as since their owned by MS they will always work.
Thanks, I am looking to get one of these real soon.
Logitech usually has better quality: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Mouse-White-910-002871/dp/B0086UK7I6
I have the Naga Hex and like it:

VS the Mamba I like this one and it’s cheap, great software to:

Software on all 3 are manageable, I would rate in this order: TekRep, Logi, Razer. But again you can get all 3 doing what you need.
Wow, read the topic as "need help with dancing between 2 mice:, was kind of curious to see what this would be about.
Anyway, I have a Razor mouse that I got maybe 3 years ago. I like it quite a bit, and it has been durable even when shoved in a computer bag. I am thinking about getting a mouse with more buttons though since mine only has 2 extra side buttons.
If you haven’t already I would suggest trying the mice to see how they fit your hand. I picked the razor I have after going to Bestbuy and trying out a lot of mice.

If you are looking for a gaming mouse I suggest the Logitech G600
(http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/g600-mmo-gaming-mouse?crid=825)
IMO its superior to the Naga in design, function and quality. The third ring finger button is amazing for weapon swapping. And the thumb buttons are designed in a way that makes it easier to navigate by touch between the 12 of them without misclicking or your thumb “getting lost”.
Razer products have always been hit or miss. They either work great or are total lemons. There really isn’t much middle ground. I myself had to RMA the Lycosa twice, the Naga three times (though once was for one as I got as a gift for someone else), and the Tron gaming mouse once (another gift).
Enough was enough and I got the G600 mouse and G110 keyboard and they have been nothing less than spectacular.
Just my experience. Other people might attest otherwise, and it’s entirely possible. Like I said Razer can be great, but their quality is super inconsistent and you are really gambling on what you will get.

Logitech G600. Never ever get Razor Naga Epic, it will randomly Freeze. It’s a known problem and no fix from razor (so much failed support? lol).
I had a huge collection of mouse, and i found that Logitech is a much better mouse than razor. Razor tends to drop support after 1yr introducing the mouse.
As ownwer and user of a basic old Razer Naga i’d suggest the logithech g600.
If not for the hardware itself which as far as i understand is not too far from each other, but mostly for the software, the drivers.
My razer software works, but is currently hung on an update which can’t complete :S
^^
I had a problem with the Naga that would either randomly restart my computer, or not let my computer shut down. Windows would shut down, but all case lights and fans kept running. It started a few days after using the naga and I narrowed the problem down by using two other mice (logitech 510 and MS) and had no random reboots or failed shutdowns.
I have never encountered a problem like that before. Something about the mouse using a service that the firmware wouldn’t let Windows close.
If this is a mouse you have had to save money for and would be a big burden to pay for shipping on RMAs or replacements…seriously consider looking into the G600.

I’ve been using a Naga for GW2 and it’s working fine. Never had any issues with their support; the only issue I’ve had with their firmware is that one update had the firmware configuration window popping up uninvited on Windows’ boot.
It took a couple of hours to become effective with the mouse’s side keypad and about 8 hours’ gaming for it to be second nature. It’s definitely been worth the retraining time.

No offense, but I hate you now. I desperately want a mouse that lets me use my ‘right side’ fingers (ring and pinky), but one in my price range didn’t exist when I went mouse shopping 3 years back and no way can I go mouse shopping for myself this year, so I’m going to have to use my G500 until it dies. Which looks to be for all eternity. It’s pretty darn tough.
I feel like this thread is turning into a Logitech infomercial and that I should go ask them to pay me something for saying this, but Logitech makes darn good rodents. Can’t say as much for their cheaper headsets, though.

When the original GW launched I bought a Logitech MX 518 and that has been my go to mouse up until GW2 launch. That thing lasted over 7 years and never gave me a single problem. I tried other mice (see previous experiences with Razer) out of sheer gadget lust, but when they all gave me issues, the 518 got hooked right back up.
The thing is still alive and kicking. I handed it down to my brother because he needed one for the PC I built him for the game.
Incidentally I heard the newer builds of the mouse don’t hold up as well as the original. I guess it’s not good for business to have optical mice that could potentially outlive their users.
You are right about the headsets though. I tried a few of those and was never a huge fan. Admittedly never any of the higher end ones. Just the $15-20 headsets you can get from Walmart when I needed one in a jiffy.

Razer naga epic for me. This is one mouse which I have been eyeing when it was announced. Logitech came out with a similar mouse after that. Both are pricey with Logitech clone slightly cheaper. I wish I can afford them in the near future. Since you have the budget now, go for it.

I’d throw in another vote for Logitech over Razer, although I haven’t tried enough to recommend a particular model.
I got a Razer Diamondback and Acosta (keyboard) a few years ago because it was the default that came with my computer. Never could get the software working properly, they work fine as a normal mouse and keyboard but I could never get any of the keybindings to save. Then the mouse gradually stopped working – it would randomly stick when I was scrolling, then the scroll wheel stopped responding, then the left button wouldn’t stay down so when I tried to click and drag it’d double click instead (I wasted a lot of consumables in GW1 thanks to that).
A while back I finally got the money to replace it with a Logitech G400 and I’ve had no complaints. Most people might want a few more buttons but I’m happy using the keyboard for most things, I just have a few common commands on there to save time. (Besides I’m left handed and most gaming mice have most the buttons on the left side where I can’t really get to them. The 2 on the G400 are about right for me.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Of the two mice listed, the naga.
