Need help with dyes (Minor Colour blind :D )
Evening Wine should be more in the dark purple range (moving towards the red spectrum).
This might help you a bit – you will be able to tell in what direction it goes and determine how the colours become darker. At least approximately as there is typically one dye that has the actual colour name in it in the range.
The colours change according to what material (of armour) they are used on. Sorry, can’t really answer the specific questions without being in the game and having the dyes myself.
Edit: Should say thanks to Boojum who created this chart!
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Brightest White – celestial without question
Darkest Black – abyss. midnight ice/fire are also popular choices for dark almost black
Sky Blue – lots of light blue choices.
Oxford Blue – I don’t know what oxford blue is.
Primary Red – something like scarlet or plain red. I really like black cherry personally but it’s darker.
Shiny Gold – butter (and butter variants), illumination
Dull Gold – white gold is my favorite
Brightest White – celestial imo. though it’s only a slight difference with regular white, but I’ve been switching them out on my armor and it looks slightly more whiter with celestial.
Darkest black – black….. but thats not the deepest black. for example midnight ice is very dark blue, but due to the slight blue glow over it more vibrant.
Sky Blue – pastel winter dye is closest imo.
Oxford Blue – blueberry blue or afternoon are closest imo
primary red – red
shiny gold – gold…..but keep in mind that with mettalic dyes the colour really depends on the fabrik of the armor. on metals this looks very shiny, but on cotton it looks very like yellow and you would have beenwasting money imo. Leather is in between them.
Dull Gold – Brash….. but see the remark bout gold above.
Evening wine: hmmm, the wiki doesnt have a picture of it, and there is no chat link avialable. so I can’t say more without an ingame link that it is a purple dye.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Awesome replies, thank you very much!
Those are the colours I will be primarily wearing so now I know what to look for I can buy with confidence lol
