Guild Wars 2

Hello all, hopefully someone can help me with this.
After finishing Further into Orr I picked the Whisper’s plan which is to go after the beacons controlling the Risen navy. I get the quest Stealing Light, where I have to lead a squad to sabotage a Beacon Torch.

I gather my squad, swim to where I’m suppose to swim, kill the giants throwing rocks at me (although Elli and her holographic seem to bug on me and stays put where she discovers the little spider spying on the group.) , make my way past the waves of little spiders shivers and start attack the Risen Spider Lord. This is where I have trouble. I start killing the guy, he transforms into a ghost spider and after about 50% hp is where he starts to kill me. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I tried kiting him with no real luck. He’s just kicking my butt and keeping me stuck on that quest.

Any suggestions?

I personally never had real trouble with this guy. Yes he hits hard, but I always could kill him with not dropping too far into health.
