I have a level 26 guardian and lately i have been struggling with deciding which items to use.

I dont know whether i should get power (which is pretty much what i have been getting on all my gear) or getting other stats too. Im still pretty new to this game so im looking for some advice. I use a mace and shield primarily as i look the look and the abilities but also use a hammer and sword too and rarely a greatsword but mainly stick to mace and shield.

Any advice would be helpful i play mainly solo and level up by myself until i can start grouping so please any help.

So, as far as leveling goes you may want to go with power. But honestly, don’t drop money on leveling gear. Pick up the item that drops for you that is closest to your level with the best rarity. Gear gets outdated way too fast to end up spending money on it before you hit level cap.

For pve leveling, run full power and precision gear. Buy new gear every 5 or 10 levels. For wvw, run toughness and vitality. Use a greatsword for damage and staff for swiftness and healing. Use shelter, save yourself, the aoe stability shout, retreat and renewed focus. Save yourself and retreat are used on cooldown for perma swiftness. Make sure to get shout cd reduction trait first. I wouldnt really do dungeons or anything until 80. Just quickly do map completion and when you get bored, do some pvp or wvw for a fun different kind of leveling

Power, Precision and Ferocity are the stats to prioritise for a Guardian, regardless of weapon choice.

Condition Damage builds aren’t really any good until you are able to unlock the Tier 3 Major Traits.

Open world content is quite easy and you will have out leveled a lot of maps by the time you get to them so if you are still doing 1-15 maps then the old lvl 10 gear will work fine so buy gear based on that sort of thinking. I think there are 3 lvl 15-25 maps so lvl 25 gear will do fine even if you are lvl 40 by the time you finish those maps.

Also it’s fine of you absolutely love the idea of mace and shield but if your open to a more effective weapon set I suggest Great sword (great for leap, blind, and mob control with binding blades) and Staff (swiftness, tagging mobs during events, and giving you self a nice boost of 12 might before tough fights).

Hi im sorry but i know next to nothing about the staff. What do you mean tagging mobs?

Also i like the mace and shield because of the survivability and the look but i do like the greatsword as well but i feel like im far squishier when i use that.

Is there any kind of tips or tricks to using it ? The main reason i use the mace is because its forgiving and allows me to face tank some mobs but its very slow but seems to hit hard in the combo chain.

I leveled by doing map completion. I was always at or above the max level for a map. Greatsword is the best weapon (imo) as you can pull everything to you and then spin to win. I always went with the most offensive stats.
