Hi guys.

I’m currently running GW2 on rMBP 2015 (on Windows). You know, It’s not kinda gaming machine.

Now I’m thinking about assemble a new Desktop PC. but I really have no idea about spec and price (last time I assemble a PC. The best graphic card was still AGP)

My goal is to run GW2 at high settings (prolly with reshade thingy?) at 1080p at 60 fps. And able to record game with Windows 10 Game DVR at High Quality 60fps.

or 30fps will be just fine. if 60fps is not gonna be cheap :|

Can anyone suggest the spec for me please? I want it as cheapest as possible (exclude monitor)

My room temperature is normally around 30c

Thank you very much

There’s a bit of a range with the 2015 version of a Retina Mac Book Pro where the top end version not sounding half bad if you keep thermal throttling in check. But yes the lower end ones with integrated graphics and two physical cores … yeah you can do better.

  • True quad core or Intel desktop i5 or i7, current generation so the -6xxx series.
  • 8 or 16 GB of DDR4 memory.
  • 6GB GTX 1060
  • 256/512 GB SSD for OS and a game or two.

I have no idea what additional loads Win 10’s Game DVR will put on the system. But I would include a large conventional HD for session storage.

As for case, CPU cooling (you will want 3rd party CPU cooling) and Power Supply, I would check out articles with sample builds. Just don’t go “cheap” or HUGE on the power supply, a high quality 550-750 watt 80 Gold unit should be more than enough while keeping heat it’s generating low.

This isn’t a bad overview with a sample configs at different price points (US). You can use this as a starting point. I would start with their “sweet” and “sweeter” spot configs.

Also you may need to be a realist when striving for 60 FPS in this game. There are some area and activities which will impact FPS negatively with little that you can do hardware wise to “fix” that. Anywhere there’s a large player population on screen and/or in combat will impact FPS.

Hi there,

I bought the following about 2 weeks ago and I am able to play everything on Max settings. While playing I have 80-100 fps and around 55-60 fps in LA and Boss fights.

Intel i5 6500
Msi b15 gaming m3
GeForce GTX 1070 8gb
Corsair Vengeance 2×8gb ddr (@2333Ghz)
Corsair 550MX
SSD 500gb 750evo

This is around 1200-1300 euro.

Monitor: BenQ 27 inch WQHD 144hz.
400 euro.

I am typing this in a hurry so I am sorry of some names are wrong!

Will not give exact specs but there’s acouple of things to take note on:

- There really isnt a machine that will run GW2 at 60fps on full settings all the time, this is mostly because of limitations of the relatively poor game engine GW2 has
- You’ll see better performance from Intel CPU’s in comparison to AMD since they have vastly better single thread performance, this is another kink in the game engine and thus there is not much you can do about that.
