So I just hit 80 and, I have 27g 44s 8c, 85 Mystic Coins, 11 Gobs of Ectoplasm, 182,268 Karma and 38 Laurels. What should I do first?

Make a guardian (joking)
Depends what you’re into ? WvW ? run some dungeons? Gear up to lvl 80 exotics/ ascended. Whatever floats your boat.

Mostly PvE, and how should I go about gearing?

Gear up, ofcourse. For PVE – berserker

I know I should go for Precision/Power. but I just don’t know the best places to get them.

BTW, I’m a ranger.

Should I craft weapons from the Mystic Forge?

All dungeons have paths. Each path gives a reward of tokens. With the tokens you can buy exotic armor in Lions Arch. With laurals you can buy ascended trinkets. With karma you can buy exotic temple armor in orr. With gold you can buy exotics off of the TP. So really the choice is yours how fast you want to gear up and how you want your ranger to look.

Ah you’re right i was just looking over the wiki ( its been a while since i bought any)
For some reason i was thinking soldiers… lol

I see this question asked a lot. I forget sometimes people are on their first MMO, and that Guild Wars 2 isn’t as ‘traditional’ as the MMOs of the old world.

Anyway, my first suggestion is to gear out in exotics, then re-skin to how you want it. If you don’t know what you’re doing, at least you’ll look good (not) doing it!

After that, there’s a ton for you to do at 80. I put together a list here of everything I could think of:

Quite the subjective question . Personally Im gearing up my ranger in knights armor/trinkets and zerker weapons . Its really up to you though . Zerker makes you really squishy where as the knights will at least add some toughness .

Take a look through the Ranger forums for builds or even build sites and see if theres anything there you like as well . You never know what you may come across .

You can also try to do CoF p1. CoF has a set of Berserker gear, and p1 wont be very hard for you anyway, as long as you dodge.

This is a slow method, but this way you can earn gold while collecting CoF tokens for the Armor

Edit: You have 27g, so spending some to gear up wont hurt. And I think it should not cost you more than 10g to get the armor pieces (Runes not included). This way, you can atleast do the easy dungeons like CoF and AC
