Hey guys, so I’ll be getting a new mouse soon.. but there’s so many choices, idk what to get haha. I guess after reading all the reviews and what not, I can say that I most likely have a palm grip and that I like to lift my mouse. I’ve read on logitech, razer, roccat, and steelseries mice. Logitech and razer seem to be really popular. Just wondering what your guys’ opinions are and experiences. I know that I’ll be trying some of them out if I can find them at some local stores to see if they fit my hand, but yeah. =D

EDIT: oh yeah, I play gw2 obviously, but I also play LoL and I used to play counter strike, not so much now though.. if that makes any difference lol.

I have never wanted a million buttons. I find the Naga HEX (which I purchased right after the first BWE last April) is just right for how I play GW2. Though since I mouse-steer I don’t tend to lift the thing unless it’s going off the mouse pad -stares at Clocktower puzzle with a baleful gaze- I love having my move keys on the mouse so it’s a thumb-shift to strafe or dodge.

It’s had an odd issue lately where it starts to drag and catch on the mousepad. I’ve detected little black spots it seems to be leaving that are the source of the hitching. Putting my steelseries pad on top of the thicker foam pad I prefer seems to have stopped that.

The MadCatz Cyborg R.A.T MMO7 is the crem dela crem of gaming Mice. Its the most adjustable and customizable mouse out, if u cant make it feel comfortable for ur hand, ur unlikely to find one at all :P

Anyway its rather pricey but i will be getting one soon myself since my current Logitech G5 is wearing out, iv alreayd repaired it once recently.

So yea, take a look at the MadCatz lineup. The Cyborg R.A.T 3, 5, 7, MMO-7, 9
The 9 is wireless, the rest are wired. The 3 is optical, the 5, 7, and 9 are all Laser.
The MMO varient of the 7 has more buttons on the thumb rest.

I used to have a Razer Diamondback and I liked it at first, although I could never get the software working so it was basically just a normal mouse. Then after the first 6 months it started falling apart. It wouldn’t scroll smoothly, then the wheel broke and wouldn’t work at all, then the right mouse button wouldn’t stay down so clicking and dragging usually lead to right clicking. I’ve heard it’s a common issue with Razer products – good design but poor build quality. (Although my Razer keyboard has been fine.)

Now I’ve got a Logitech G400 and, so far, it’s fantastic. I went with Logitech because I’ve heard they have excellent build quality and I’ve had good experiences with their other products. It doesn’t have as many buttons as some gaming mice but that’s fine with me, all I want to do is shift some common commands so I can keep my right hand on the movement and attack keys.

I have a Logitech G600 and I love it- I have my skills on the thumb buttons and it has helped me a lot- I mouse steer with the heel of my hand while holding very lightly.

I have small hands and the mouse is short enough for me to use easily, it was quite heavy in the beginning but I got used to it after about 2 days

My husband can’t play with my mouse at all since he grips the mouse too tightly and pushes all the thumb buttons.

He has a Roccat Kone and he swears it is the best mouse

I have a Razer Naga and it works perfectly. When I first got it a little over a year ago I thought I’d only use it for MMOs but I find that the precision is so great that my “normal mouse” just feels so inadequate in comparison

Best thing to do if you have the possibility is to try them out IRL in a store or some such to see how they feel in your hand. .

The packaging for the Logitech G400 states its the new version of their MX518, which I’ve had for many, many years (circa 2003) and still love – a spare stays with my notebook 24/7 on the off chance I end up at a hotel. Its a balanced gaming/utility mouse IMO, and has served well in many situations, including one or two MMOs. But as mentioned, it has very few buttons to work with.

Last week I caved in and got a G700. I’m still getting the hang of it, but just having the wheel’s side-click has helped a lot (mapped to dodge). I only needed 6-0 mapped for utility, since I’m happy with the rest of the standard keymap. Now I just need to remember to use those. :-)

Another thing about the G700 is that its wireless. This is something I normally have an aversion to (mostly battery life), but the lack of a wire has helped as well due to the confined space I work the mouse from. The difference is very noticeable when I have it plugged in for recharging, since the cord is thicker than the G400’s.

You’ll want to keep this in mind as part of your decision, since the G600 is still a corded mouse IIRC. And I agree about checking them out personally – the 600 costs $20 less than the 700, but I found the layout on the 700 (and its shape) to be easier for my hand.

Oh and here’s the link to the R.A.T MMO 7

http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/mmo.htm

It comes in the stock color u see there (Matt black & orange)

Also in
Gloss Black
Gloss White
Gloss Red

Personaly i hate gloss on mouses, since if/when u get swetty hands its like holding onto a bar of soap and/or feels horrible and sticky. Matt does not.
