New Player-- Quick Question.
All influence from Gw1 to Gw2 happens through the Hall of Monuments.
I’m not sure if that means your names are still locked, I believe at least some were released after a certain time, but it does include weapons, armours and pet skins are unlocked there depending on how many HOM- points you gathered.
You can’t actually transfer any items from GW1.
The only thing that transfers directly is the God Walking Among Mere Mortals title. If you’ve got it in GW1 then you’ll have it in GW2.
Other than that it’s just the HoM reward items. (Which are weapon and armor skins, pets and mini pets, and titles.)
Your characters, gold, heroes, items, pets etc. etc. don’t transfer over.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
The names were released a while after release.
I think the HoM webpage lists EXACTLLY what you earn when linking accounts (even what you have not attained yet) and as I recall, all you need is a GW1 character name to view them.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

Almost. You need a GW1 character name from an account that has unlocked the Hall of Monuments (i.e. purchased Eye of the North expansion, visited the Hall of Monuments at least once, and used at least one tapestry fragment to unlock a monument).
The link to that webpage is: https://hom.guildwars2.com/
(Also, if you want to actually reap the rewards in Guild Wars 2, you need to link your GW and GW2 accounts together through your Guild Wars 2 account management page: https://account.guildwars2.com/login. Just performing the link awards 3 out of a possible 50 reward points.)
