New/Returning player - class picking
Kind of at a loss regarding what to suggest because really, any class can be fun and perform well in WvW as each has their own strengths (and weaknesses) for particular situations. Your current classes – warrior, guardian, elementalist are all highly popular for WvW as they are all wanted for group pvp.
Also, to be frank, there are no “noob” friendly classes for WvW. You either know what you are doing or you are meat no matter what class you are. In other words, its all about learning your class and how to respond to a given situation through practice and experimentation. “If” there is a noob friendly class, it might be playing a ranger and just staying as far back in the zerg as possible to snipe the enemy….but this type of ranger is perhaps the least welcome class/build in serious WvW.
All I can suggest is to just try out each class to find what suits you best and try to stay within the safety of the zerg where you can get support from others during the process of learning.
Since all classes can be ranged how are you forced to melee on any of em?

1. In many cases melee weapons out-damage ranged.
2. Staying at range you won’t benefit from blasted fields.
3. Concerning PvP & WvW if an opponent gets in your face with enough gap closers and CC they can make it pretty hard for you not to melee.

I am confused. Who is talking about being “forced” to melee??? The OP is just asking for advice about a fun, noob friendly class that can perform well in WvW….oh, and he likes melee so I assume he would like suggestions to take this into account.

I kinda have hard time picking a class now, i like melee but i feel they are weak in wvw (big fights).
Hence why I responded the way I did.
I guess we are just interpreting his meaning differently. I read that as: he likes to melee, and subsequent WANTS to melee but feels forced to go range because he feels that melee is “weak in WvW” (his words). In other words, he is feeling forced to go range not forced to melee which is what he “likes” and, I assume, would prefer if he could just find a fun “noob” friendly option.
First of all, thanks for all the info’ !
Now i do prefer melee overall, i like the damage my warrior could do back in the days
but in WvW i prefer to “survive” more then do damage, and as Warrior i could not survive much.
So to make it easier, I guess my options are:
1. Defensive Warrior/Guardian-
* How much “defensive” they are? They survive MUCH more or just a lil bit more?
* How much their “offense” is lacking? They do MUCH less or just a lil bit less?
(Hope you understand where I’m going here)
2. D/D Elementalist and Staff Elementalist:
* How is the D/D damage compared to his defense? Is he good at surviving big fights?
* How is the Staff damage compared to all other classes? Because it felt really low to me.
Sorry for all the questions, but I will do 1 more :]
How is the new class? Revenant? (Wvw of course)
Is it melee? Physical? Magic?
Thanks!
